Rags and their FA Cup Curse?
I was reminded again this week of a so-called 'FA Cup Curse' that was said to be inflicted on the Rags after they dissed the old lady by not competing in the 2000 season. Now ive heard about this several times over the last 7 or 8 years or so, and always thought it was a joke- but is it? We had our own so-called curses years ago at Maine Road that seemed to get under the skin of some of our players, and Big Mal famously was on the receiving end of one being 'exorcised' in the seventies, so does anyone believe this is true?
To remind those that may not have heard, the tale goes that a curse was put on the rags after Alex Ferguson withdrew the team from defending the cup in the 1999-2000 season. It was that 'Manchester United would never win the cup at Wembley ever again', and it was proclaimed by a 'unnamed prince of hell'. Seeing Rooneys face on Monday night made me think he believes its true!
Well it could be said the curse has run its course already- the original Wembley stopped hosting FA Cup finals in 2000! The rags did win the cup in 2004 but that final was played at Cardiff.
Anyone out there believe it?!!!
