I take life as it comes i like to think and do not hold much to heart and as such my post is not based on rage or anger.
This post is not solely aimed at Mr Herbert but the football media in general.
Said reporter has the main sport page headeline as "One year on from moyes, Van Gaal shows the way to take over Manchester United"
One may think "Ok fair do's" but the latter part of that sentence would be "who did they beat and in what manor" would you not think more than reasonable a question to pose?.
So i find myself at a loss beyond calling him a utd sycophant of how to properly articulate my views in a concise manor knowing this was nothing more than a press conference.
No balls kicked, just words, since when did we attribute so much importance to a press conference before today, never i would assume the concensus would be.
I understand these manchester/london etc based footy reporters rely on the clicks and demand for their product to ensure their financial stability. This is however has seen a dislocation of attributes of the job that are more prominent and desired than in other professions.
Namely that of integrity, this should be the speed of light for them, insurmountable, impassable, absolute !
Actors for example do not need integrity to be successful but it helps their image. What image does a reporter have above that of his intergrity as a writer of articles that holds fairness and balance above all else as it's lifeblood?
If you all had your own blog that was well indexed you could easily give your honest views and leave the embelishment that betrays your personal alliegances or profesional pressure in your work to just that.
Maybe you do not respect the profession enough which happens all the time in life and it is unfair to focus on you chaps. That is true but does not escape the fact you as reporters resemble forum posters more and more in your writing. We can get that 24/7 we want our reporters to report.
It seems that credability as impartial disseminators of fact and information is impossible due to the viscious commercial nature of the beast that is news media.
It is disheartening, you guy's shape a decent portion of the professional footballing landscape (for the fans especially) and could be doing so much better if you were honest with yourselves in my opinion.
