Sunderland could have won that game if they had gone for it, instead they just sat in their half waiting to see what Utd had

Utd look even worse than last season, but I've been calling time on them for many a year. Too soon.

Remember this time last season under Pellegrini? We won our opening game then turned in a few poor performances away from home. But we improved.

Too soon to say its terminal when they are going to throw a lot of resources at the team.
True Marvin, but even in some of those away losses we were all over the opposition and lost through lack of concentration at the back.

Watching the rags they genuinely look like they don't have a clue what they're doing. From years of experience watching us, you may get the occasional click where you dismantle your foe on a bad day, but it's based largely on circumstances being just right on the day - in effect luck, and not sustainable. That is not a tweakable fix, it requires overhaul and a lot of work over a long time. :)))))))

Red Nose ran things his way. So when he left, Utd's number one signing should have been a Director of Football and a supporting team - it matters not whether they are above, below or equivalent to the manager - the fact is that with agents and most of the worlds best players tied to long term contracts you need a herd of professional negotiators to deal with other clubs and player agents, the later role being to prise players away from other clubs AND to keep your own brood happy. Managers just don't have the time to deal with all the shit themselves in this day and age.

I'm not buying it. The rags are are on their arse psychologically and with their collective confidence at an all-time-low it's going to take a lot more than introducing 'big' players to turn it round for them. In case you haven't noticed "Baconface has gone" ergo the Scum are doomed. We've been saying it for years and years "once he's gone things will never ever be the same". This is the beginning of the end for them IMO.

They are desperate for 'the quick fix'. In football it has to be bloody quick or the season has passed you by. I'm reading that di Maria might not be too enamoured at ending up there - no Euro footy, no quality in the team, and what has happened to FatScouseGit and his demand a few seasons back that he needed assurances that they were gonna buy some quality?

couldnt agree more, tagarts presence was worth more than 20 points a season in gifts, but head seems half hearted and didn't even get off his backside during the Sunderland game, he looks like a man defeated in his job before its started

Di Maria have the scum over a barrel! He should insist in his contract that if they don't get champs league football this season he can be sold for 30m to any club who wants him or tell them he'll stick it out at Madrid for a season!!

It's not a lack of pace.

Neville is wrong. Even Sunderland could see it.

United have never been a possession football team.

It becomes even more highlighted now in a three.

Sunderland were quite happy to let Black and Decker, Smalling or Jones come forward with the ball, because they can't make an incisive pass.

The ball eventually comes sideways when you don't have the personnel to retain the ball.

Which is why they have reverted to type and gone for another 'knock it wide' signing in Di Maria.

A top player, but so far from what they need when average teams can drive a coach and horses through midfield and their entire backline.

They will get done by five or six at some point this season, hopefully by us again.

he more than likely has although united are not going to run to the daily mail with that one

I never thought I would see such an amateurish approach both on and off the field from United.

They were so eager to leak some good news that they were on the verge of agreement, it will probably end up costing them an extra £10m.

Madrid are playing them perfectly, they know United have gone 'all in' and can't afford to fold now.
