Hmmmm.

So revenue is expected to be down 40-50 MM GBP in 2015 vs. 2014 (off around 10%), and EBITDA down between 35-40 MM GBP (off around 25%) . . . and even those projections assume a top 3 finish.

Wonder what the projections look like if they don't make top 3.

What's EBITDA?

Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization

Thank you, lancs.

United have released their figures:

Revenue of £433.2m, up 19%.
Sponsorship revenue up 49%.
Adjusted EBITDA of £130.1m, up 20%.
Commercial revenue up £36.8m on 2013.
Broadcasting revenue up £34.2m on 2013.
Total revenue up £70m.
Profit down £122.6m on 2013.
Debt down £47.4m to £341.8m.
Cash reduced £28m to £66.4m.
Operating expenses increased by £62m to £372.3m.
David Moyes sacking cost them £5.2m.
Employee benefit expenses went up £34.3m to £214.8m.

Predictions for 2015:

Revenue of £385-395m.

EBITDA of £90-95m.

i think there are a couple of reasons for that:
1) their current accounts don't show the purchases of di maria, blind, falcao, rojo. thats a significant amount considering wages too
2) no CL income slightly offset by new shirt deal
3) probably top 3 clause in some sponsorships

united will be f****** up if they don't get top 4 this year. another year away and i am positive we can catch up with them

Those results look absolutely horrendous to me. They've embarked on a massive spending spree, wages will be substantially up, and they are saying they are really pushing the limit of what they can spend before the new sponsorship deals kick in.

We knew this season it was important they finished top four, but those results make it look absolutely critical.

They really are playing with fire. This season could be pivotal for Utd.

Given that Soriano projected our revenue for last season to be around 404m EUR, Utd's revenue will be around £100m more than ours

Yes, for the 2013-2014 season.

He predicts our revenue for 2014-2015 to match Bayern Munich's, which would take us beyond Utd's predicted £390m.

These reports are for the season just ended - and don't include the big corporate sponsorships that have been discussed eg Addidas and Chevrolet

Their shares are trading down 3% on the day

The Adidas one doesn't start until next season, so won't be in the financial results for 2 years.

To put this story into context, I don't think there's a single Premier League club that hasn't recorded record revenues at any time in the last 10 years. Okay, I just made that up, but I bet if it's not true, it's pretty close to being true.
