Re: The Dog & Duck Pub Team (aka United) Thread 2014/15

following on from the edwards/ jones comparisons i thought i'd just try to educate some of the plastics about players they have had in the past. they need to know that this delusion about how "good" rooney is or jazuzzi or wtf his name is can't go on.
they have had players in the past that would be worth over 100m in todays game, not fancy glove wearing granny shaggers. proper players.
you will all scowl but older blues will agree with me.
Bobby charlton. nobody in todays game anywhere near as good.
george best, ok an early gazza but my word he could play.
Tony Dunne, fuck me he's eat Luke Shaw as a half time snack.
Nobby Stiles. outstanding, truley oustanding half back/wing half.
Stepney, brilliant keeper, the doc picked paddy roche once over him, in a derby. pmsl. i know we'd won.

and there are more i could list.
the good thing from our point of view for a time we were even better than them.

so rags, do us old un's a favour with your desperation to make yourselves feel better. fellani, rvp, fabio and co are not fit to lace the boots of people you've never even clapped i eyes on. i have.

I'd tend to agree with most of those names but...
However bad Paddy Roche was (and Gaaaaawd but that was bad), in my memory, Stepney dropped more clangers in derbies than any other rag keeper. Consequently, I always thought of him as being very overrated - which isn't exactly unheard of for a rag player. Neither of them were a patch on Schmeicel or even Van de Saar.
Best, for all his flaws as a human being and in spite of wasting half of his career, deserves a mention, too.
You also forgot Mrs Law's young fella. He could play a bit - and chip in with some extremely well timed goals.

As it's Christmas and shit, I'll be generous towards our red chums.

I hate you slightly less now we are constantly beating you home and away and piling up trophies.

Merry Xmas cunts.

Ian Ure was good as well.
Remember him having a real punch up with Law just before he joined them from Arsenal.
