Doesn't FFP apply to the rags, then?

no, if it did it wouldn't be in place. its there to assist them, not harm them.

Utd apparently had a profit of £ 23.9 million for 2013-2014 (up to Sept 2014)

This global brand we keep hearing of and yet only a relatively modest profit if all be told.

These Figures do not include this summers net transfer spend and corresponding wages. This added to no Champions League for 2014-2015 season and the possibility of them spending £ 100 million - £ 150 million net again next summer and having an even larger wage bill could make their next accounts release next year interesting, even with the £ 70 million a year new kit deal.

Without that new kit deal they would be in a much more difficult position, and if they were to finish outside the top 4
?

Well we will see.

From the BBC website (quoting the Independent (pretty Raggy paper nowadays)):

Manchester United are prepared to spend another £100m next summer with defenders Mats Hummels, 25, of Borussia Dortmund, Aymeric Laporte, 20, of Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin, 28, on their radar.

and they will be funded by the sale of......(from the Star this one):

Manchester United are set to sell three unwanted players in January - goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard, 30, and midfielders Nani, 28, and 26-year-old Anderson - to finance a £200m assault on the transfer market.

snigger.......

Once the fortune from those sales is amassed I assume they won't stop at Hummels and Laporte ?? Nani, Lindergaard and Anderson will surely raise what................ ? The price of a bag of chips?

The days when rag failures and cast offs went for top money are over - other clubs have seen through their dearth of talent, age and ridiculous wage demands and passing on the "opportunity" to buy. Two out of that three will be there in Feb still....... tick tock scum
