Trafford win 2-1 with 3 shots on Southampton's goal

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30389988

and apparently that is their lowest shots on goal in a Prem League game since 2003.

How many did they manage when City beat them 1-0 in 2012 at the Etihad when Kompany headed in the winner (you remember the day when Ferguson set up his attack attack team for a 0-0) ?

The important question\dilemma now though for the media and pundits is who do they want City to give the League Title to now - Chelsea or Trafford Rangers? Who do they swoon over the most Maureen or Van Gaal Bladder ?

They're shit, but they're getting that immense luck they were famous for again. Would love to see Liverpool turn them over, but I just can't see it with how bad the scousers are at the minute. Hope they collapse again after Christmas because United really are poor. The fact that they're being gifted a Top 4 spot shows how dire this league is at the minute. Total garbage. It's really fucking annoyed me that they won that tonight. Fucking jammy wankers.

As well as a return of their luck they are also reaping the benefits of no midweek football - the absence of the Champs League that they crave so much will be a great benefit come the new year - this rag team would be goosed if they had to play 3 times in a week with the midweek game involving a european trip.

Maybe their proposed far east exhibition matches against other has beens will take their toll - as for weekend - after last seasons disgraceful display I won't mind too much if the April 2014 champions fail to turn them over -the derby of the has beens is a non event

As ever, team shits its pants because they are playing the Rags, along with a ref who doesn't want to upset the powers that be.

Rags are so fucking ordinary its untrue yet they find themselves in 3rd. Other than ourselves and Chelsea, the rest of the league should be ashamed this morning gifting such a shit side a lofty position like that, they really should.

it's a game of fine margins - without fine saves from De Gea for the last few games (and better finishing) United would have at least 4 points less, if not more.

It really annoys me that theyre 3rd

They're getting very lucky.

Their level needs to improve considerably for them to get top 4. Arsenal are in crisis at the moment, but I'd still back tem to finish above Utd, and Liverpool will improve IF Sturridge returns. That will give them belief.

However someone has to finish top 4. As long as Utd are below City I don't mind. One of Liverpool, Arsenal and Utd are going to fail to get top 4 and that will plunge them into crisis. The club that would probably sustain the biggest damage by failing to get top 4 is Liverpool. They must be financially stretched.

If United beat the scousers then they will be 10 points ahead of them and for me that's top 4 nailed on for them.

However shit they are playing, they are still winning and therefore cannot be ruled out of anything. When we were 8 points behind Chelsea nothing was over and therefore it cant be for them either. Outsiders yes but not impossible. They surely cant get any worse than they have been playing.

I personally think they will finish third by some distance 8-10 points behind us/Chelsea and Arsenal will get their usual 4th spot.

Southampton have proven that they cant hack it against good sides. 5 defeats out of 5 against the traditional top 5 clubs.

I'm getting annoyed at how they're managing to win despite playing and being shite. They are getting a lot of luck and De Gea is saving them literally from conceding a bagful.

I was hoping they would fall down the table now but instead Liverpool and Arsenal are still doing shite and they've kept winning. It's vital they finish outside the top 4 just so they don't get CL qualification. That'll get sponsors thinking twice about paying big money to them. Might also see another manager sacked and then who wants the job? I'm sure Arsenal will get better, but I'm not sure Liverpool are any better than the Rags and the spuds, saints and hammers aren't going to challenge so I think the rags will make it. Hopefully they have to go through a qualifying game and get knocked out!

united are as certain to get third as City and Chelsea are to get the top two spots imo.

So they fucking should with the cost of that squad and no European football. Quite frankly that's a piss poor return on the investment in what was, two seasons ago, a title winning squad. That this is rarely pointed out in the press is not surprising to those of us familiar with how these things operate.

What a difference 9 months makes - back in March Liverpool went to Old Trafford and tore United to shreds, winning 3-0, and it could've been even more. Yet despite the fact that United aren't playing at all well at the moment I can't see Liverpool getting anything on Sunday and it's highly likely that the Rags will make it 6 league wins on the bounce despite turning in some gash performances.

"look into my eyes, my eyes, not around the room, my eyes, we did not win the league 2 years ago and we have never ever spent any money. Our entire team were born in the Old Trafford nursery and have been weaned on the teat of Utd greats. we are a club in transition, battling the evil that is MCFC and you will always report negatively on them whilst sucking our cock at every opportunity. remember, its about our philochofee and no matter how shit we are or how poor our results, we are on the road back to greatness".

"3-2-1........you're back in the room"

Journos make their way out of the rags press office.........
