Re: The Dog & Duck Pub Team (aka United) Thread 2014/15

They are not out of the title race. There's so much room for improvement. The standard of their play is way below City and Chelsea yet somehow they are sat in 3rd. How? When you look at their squad, you think they could and should be playing a lot better. Perhaps they will improve in the 2nd half of the season as they made so many changes in the Summer.

I like LVG's honesty in press conferences. I watched his post-match press conference and he's very honest and explains what he saw as the deficiencies, why he made subs etc. I wish more managers had the confidence to do this. He's an impressive operator in front of the media.

However when you consider that he had Falcao, Di Maria, Rooney and RVP on the pitch against a 10 man Villa, and they struggled to create anything of note.....that's very very poor. He's getting a very easy ride from the media. If City had spent £150 m plus and were performing in a similar manner we'd be facing a lot more criticism. I think even Utd fans would admit that they have really been very lucky in recent weeks.

They are out of the title race, even if thy have a second half like Chelsea or our first half of season they would only be on about 82 points and that won't be enough.

My father sticks to the rule if your 3rd at xmas your in the mix.
That said even he admits this is just a shadow on the wall, they have no chance.

Re: The Dog & Duck Pub Team (aka United) Thread 2014/15

They have had loads of injuries but the problem is they are not great players anyway, their makeshift defence is not much worse than their best back four. Add in the different systems and its a bit of a mess, I think they are a long way off. Arsenal, liverpool, spuds should all be able to get ahead of them but they have their own issues!

Re: The Dog & Duck Pub Team (aka United) Thread 2014/15

All depends who they sign in January, Godin and Strootman would be massive, but surely they've dropped too many silly points now.

Everyone knows the rags are always better in the 2nd half of the season, it is the one cliché that the media has perpetrated over the years....
