Manchester United are willing to smash the world transfer record to sign the former Tottenham midfielder.
Manchester United are willing to throw the house out of the window and offer £120m (153m euros, according to the current exchange rate) for Gareth Bale. Louis van Gaal has asked for an attempt to sign the Welshman and Manchester United are willing to do so for the Real Madrid midfielder. Neither Real Madrid, nor Manchester United nor Bayern Munich, have to look at the money if they decide to sign. With that freedom that allows them to pay so much and without the need to accommodate their accounts to comply with Financial Fair Play, the three can enter the market and choose the biggest and freshest fish.

United are three or four high-quality players away from fighting with Manchester City and Chelsea. It’s true that they are still not playing very well, that the system with three centre-backs does not quite work and that, aside from a comfortable win against Hull, they could have won or lost the rest of the matches that they played in the last month and a half. Van Gaal continues looking for the formula, although some of his tactical ideas confuse his players. He has already identified what he needs: he wants one or two centre-backs and a midfielder, someone who wins games.

Cost. And they would like Bale. But his clause is set at 1 billion euros and Real Madrid have no intention of selling the footballer. The Welshman’s camp say that they don’t know the origins of the stories, published in the UK, that claim that he would be willing to return to the Premier League. He is in his second season at Madrid and he is still very happy. He is still learning Spanish but he is understood by everyone, including Casillas, Pepe and Ramos who are learning English. So why even try? He scores in the finals, he has discovered how big the world is with Real Madrid and he does well enough to continue like so. In order to change his mind, United must use more than their financial power.

How do you say "has someone been on the sherry already" in Spanish?
Are utd trying to sell season tickets already?
Nothing like a bit of Xmas cheer from them lot, the gift that keeps giving...

So... the Rags sanction (leak) a story that they are interested in signing Bale – deluded Rag fans work themselves up into a foaming frenzy... media wank themselves off over the non-story... job done!
Outcome... no Bale signing but mass, positive media attention for the Rags with people believing they actually had a chance of signing him... it's not even clever PR, but their fans and the media are so gullible they fucking buy it!

With all due respect,he can pick any club in the world to join so why would he go to utd? To play with chris smalling and ashley young? Trying to shift tickets as per.

Re: The Dog & Duck Pub Team (aka United) Thread 2014/15

If Bale has any sense he will come to us, why go backwards, we are the future and every rag scum bag on the planet knows it..! He would never go to Barcelona or Chelsea so its us or Bayern... Its not as daft as it sounds, cant wait for him to arrive..

Not worth too much comment on the rags propaganda bullshit, if they signed all the players they have leaked they are going to sign, the would have a squad of 60+++ Utterly contemptible cnuts they are....!

Plague and pestilence be upon them all...!

Re: The Dog & Duck Pub Team (aka United) Thread 2014/15

It was always Ronaldo they got linked to after a poor result! Now that's he has come out and said no chance of him ever going back to that dump the media move on to Bale after a poor result, I expect this so called transfer will be in the pipe line for at least the next 2 years..

They are not out of the title race. There's so much room for improvement. The standard of their play is way below City and Chelsea yet somehow they are sat in 3rd. How? When you look at their squad, you think they could and should be playing a lot better. Perhaps they will improve in the 2nd half of the season as they made so many changes in the Summer.

I like LVG's honesty in press conferences. I watched his post-match press conference and he's very honest and explains what he saw as the deficiencies, why he made subs etc. I wish more managers had the confidence to do this. He's an impressive operator in front of the media.

However when you consider that he had Falcao, Di Maria, Rooney and RVP on the pitch against a 10 man Villa, and they struggled to create anything of note.....that's very very poor. He's getting a very easy ride from the media. If City had spent £150 m plus and were performing in a similar manner we'd be facing a lot more criticism. I think even Utd fans would admit that they have really been very lucky in recent weeks.
Mate. They were never in it this season.
