Not too bothered about them winning as they won't be a threat come the end of the season. If anything, dashing their hopes when they thought they had a chance will make winning the title even sweeter. After Chelsea's car crash of a season, Arsenal are the only team whose results I look out for now.

my dad was a devout catholic and was 100% a life long blue. so the religion shit is bollocks.
It was definitely a card that Utd played when recruiting players from Ireland. Much was made of the fact that Busby was Catholic - even long after Busby had retired.
Then again, Ireland was (is?) pretty fucked up religion-wise. So, maybe they had to reassure Seàn & Maire Citizen that their little lad wouldn't be led astray by any of them brazen English hussies.
I'm not sure City had any such hang ups; even going back to the foundation of the club. There was a man named, Davitt playing on one of St Mark's teams and, I might be wrong but, he might well have had more to do with the RC church in Haslingden, than St Marks.
Also, of course, our first successful manager was Tom Maley, formerly if Celtic.
So, I think you're right. The religion thing is bollocks.
(Oh, and as others have said: welcome back).

I don't see The Rags as a threat this season but you can never write off a club with such a huge income, short of nuking them from orbit.

Yep also they will never get a game where the officials fuck them over big time we had one already at Spurs and no doubt they'll be a couple more this season.

Now, this is an idea with potential.
The OS could run a competition amongst the Junior Blues to see who gets to push the button.
Runner up could take out the Red Scouse whilst we're at it.
Quickly! Get me Khaldoon on the phone. :-)

It's the only way to be sure.

From my dim and distant memory, I seem to remember, just after Busby retired, a spoof (or it may have been genuine!) application form doing the rounds for the position of manager at Old Toilet. It went something like this:

Name: Religion:
Date of Birth: Religion:
Experience: Religion:
Where Christened: Religion:
Are You Catholic: Yes/No
If No, do not proceed.

I also remember hopping into their ground on my left foot, as did most other blues at the time.
In the late 60s, I went there when we were at Sunderland away in midweek, and they played Newcastle at home ( paid for by one of my bosses) - I couldn't get time off to go to our game.
Remember saying to my colleague (an Oldham fan, also paid for by the boss) "bloody hell, there's a lot of Newcastle fans here - oh, sorry Father!"
Yes, it was well known they were the "Catholic" club, hence their strong ties with Celtic.
