"It's over" LVG
The Rooney one would have been interesting, in terms of supporter reaction, if he hadn't 'bottled it' ;-)
I remember Sammy MacIllroy getting a very mixed reception from the Kippaax when he signed in 1985. Terry Cooke got a generally good reception, so yes, it isn't black and white, and with united fans their hypocrisy is accentuated because so many of them have so readily bought into the crap that their club has spouted over the years, about "the united way", whereas years of mismanagement have taught us to be more skeptical about noises emanating from our club.
I just make the point that to anyone whose football club means a lot to them, supporting a winning team is a hugely enjoyable experience, and many people will find ways of adjusting their perspective, erasing things they've said from their minds, or simply justifying their change of heart 'because the club's best interests are what matter' if they get a scent of something that might deliver that success. It's simply football fans being human.
Have to say I'm surprised the eye gouger has agreed to take over at the rags( we know about his previous desire and fawning over the job)but the landscape has changed even after we won the league under Mancini,it's not one or two teams it's 6,7 or 8 capable of winning and added to the fact better managers taking second tier clubs, makes any league win now a War of attrition, any rag fan thinking it's only a matter of him rocking up and running away with league and cups forget it....oh and how classy of the rags to leak straight after a cup win that they are replacing their manager why not leave it for a day or two...
So, in an age where every football club professional would rather qualify for the CL than win the FA Cup and we beat them to it, their players sing about us when they land the consolation prize. In a season when we also won a domestic pot and reached the CL semi, while they pathetically crashed out of a piss easy group and were well beaten in the Europa League by a PL also-ran. Brilliant. Enjoy the hurt, baby.
As for Mourinho, while the dream for Blues would have been that they appoint Giggs and, as others say, I do think Mou will have trophy success there, it's definitely a step forced on their club because of what we and others are doing. He'll certainly try to get under our skin (get ready for the barbs against both our club and manager). However, I'll bet good money now that we'll emerge post-Pep stronger than United post-Mou.
I'd think that Rooney was a granny shagger.Anybody who is worrying about this appointment needs to think what would you feel like if the roles were reversed.
Them in the CL about to get Pep and us in the Europa about to get Maureen
I'm not talking about what you would say but what you would really think
I'd like to think you would win that bet and, even if I was a betting man, I would take your wager. City are working to a strategy that included appointing Pep. United may have a strategy - milking the cow? - but it surely did not include appointing the man in the raincoat. Whether it counts as a panic appointment, I don't know but it does look like they have, as you say, been forced into this, mainly by Pep's arrival in a neighbouring city but also by the likes of Conte and Klopp going to key rivals. There will be too much circus in Manchester but it is going to make for another very interesting season in the Premier League.
Up to Txiki now to execute the strategy by buying supremely well this summer.
Also a point I forgot to mention, can't wait for the season to start my hatred of the rags has went up tenfold with this fucker in charge, wonder if there will be a eye gouging type moment next season involving this cnut ..Nobody else wants him.
