Incorrect. It's a racial stereotype, not a racist stereotype.
It's a stereotype which was dreamt up as part of efforts to portray black men as subhuman beasts and as a sexual threat to women. It also has no factual basis. I'd say it's both racial and racist.
How do you know? What you might have considered fine then might not be now. These days you just don't know until someone comes along and says they are offended.
Strange thing to pull me up on but fine, to my knowledge, I haven't. I'm not saying I haven't said or held opinions away from football in the past that wouldn't be considered ok now, but i also don't have a problem with listening to other perspectives and acting like less of a twat if im pulled up on it. We all make mistakes and we're all ignorant to certain facts, it's how we act once we find these things out that's important and personally i find the idea of pathetically clinging on to the need to obsess over black mens' penis sizes kind of weird, especially when it takes like 2 mins to find out the history of that specific trope.
Whenever anything like this comes up people tend to fall into one of three categories:
1) Whoops, sorry I didn't know the story behind that. Will swerve this kind of thing in future.
2) So what? I'm cool with being a racist so i'll carry on as i am.
And then finally (and these are the strangest of the lot because they're usually the ones that like calling everyone else snowflakes when in fact they're the ones struggling to cope)
3) I want to carry on as I am but I also don't want to be called a racist. Everyone else is wrong and it's the PC brigade telling me what to do (when in fact you are still free to carry doing what you want to do, it's just the rest of the world won't be laughing along with you anymore and for some reason that really hurts you.)
If anyone wants to know why it's considered racist (and also untrue), Richard Herring's discussion on it from a couple of years back is a very good place to start.
Anyway, that's me done. Spent enough time talking about this and I've nothing else to add.
