Great shout... for me he's ok in a team that's ok.

Who would out of their best 11. De Gea, and that's it.... Sanchez a possibllity. None of the others would be anywhere near... just let that sink in. What a time to be a blue
Wouldn't have De Gea over Ederson, Ederson's ability on the ball is vital to our overall game and he's a far better sweeper enabling us to play with a higher line. De Gea is a better shot stopper but we'd face far more shots with him in goal. Sanchez, Martial, Shaw would all be useful in our squad.

De Gea wouldn't because as bizarre as it sounds, he cant play the game that Ederson can.

Fair shout. He's decent on the floor de Gea, though agree Ederson is on a different planet in that respect. On a straight pick de Gea probably gets in for most teams currently, but when you factor in how we play you'd go with Ederson.

I was initially talking best 11. Agree on the first 2 squad players, shaw maybe but only because we have no left backs. Agree for us, Ederson is the better fit..

Good line (from a Rag) in the comments section of The Guardian this morning, referring to Lukaku...'Lukaku is little more than a runaway wardrobe - speed of a racehorse, strength of a dray horse, brains of a fucking rocking horse.'
And the touch of a rodeo horse. :-)

I think Matic is a victim of Pogba's lack of ability to do a job and not wander around half daydreaming. His legs may be gone but Matic still understands the game pretty well. The idea Pogba has to cover for Matic just does not add up to me. I bet it is the total opposite in reality.

Agree with this, Matic and Pogba = 1 Fernandinho. Just think under Mancini we played De Jong, Barry and Yaya. Nowadays we play Fernandinho and..... Our football has evolved ridiculously under Pep and I think in Fern he has someone miles better than Busquets or any of the other midfielders he has had in that position.

Fern for me is perhaps the most underrated player in the league, if KDB doesn't win POTY then Fernadinho should but I would imagine half the people deciding won't even know who he is. Obviously Kane will win it because just happening to score 3-4 goals in 1 game against a tinpot team to win you the golden boot makes you the best player over a season.....

Very similar to the Dinho/Yaya relationship of 13/14 and 14/15, yet despite Yaya back then being a far superior player to Pogbad, we had no problem calling him out for constantly leaving Dinho high and dry, even though Dinho has far greater mobility and a better engine than Matic will ever have.
Even with that greater talent and end product (Yaya) and greater mobility and stamina (Dinho) it was still a huge flaw in our team and it's telling that our deepest run in the Champions League came with a midfield pairing of Fernando and Dinho.

I think that's right.

Spurs exposed Matic's low mobility last season, and he cannot be expected to cover Eriksen and Alli, and anyone else who happens to attack, by himself. Give him a decent partner, and he can be effective enough - just as Gareth Barry manages.

Great examples, as close to the same situations and attributes as you can get really.

redcafe is a bit strange with Pogba, they just don't seemingly want to admit he has been average at best. They drool over stuff that should be standard for a "world class" player as they are adamant he is (he really isn't). The second he plays a cross field pass to the players feet he is better than KDB and it helps remind me the internet should be taken with a pinch of salt a lot of the time.

He did sod all for France, nothing of note for utd, in fact every big game he has been in it he has done next to nowt. The only reason he gets plaudits for his time at Juve is because he had a genuine world class team around him. They indulged his cherry on the top offerings because they could carry it. Utd as a squad still seem like they only met yesterday so how can they expect to carry him when they don't even have the basics sorted i.e. a standard of play, an identity of style and ethos etc.

Good points and i never really thought of it like that, i do still love big Nige but yeah Fernandinho is a class above everyone. He is certainly the best in his position that i can think of. Pep probably frets about filling his boots more than silva's.

This will never get old....

Doesn't seem to matter where Maureen goes he just seems to have this unerring knack of losing the changing room. From a title-winning Chelsea in May 2015 to a relegation threatened Chelsea in December 2015 (7 months) surely takes some doing?

I am firmly of the belief that the rags will not make the CL this year, and if that is the case then surely he's finished in the Prem? Spuds, Dippers and Chelsea (only just) are all better than the rags.

I have a former bandmate who is a Spurs fanatic and he reckons the rags (last night) were arguably the worst team he's seen so far this season.

That's because he's cost them about £150m so far and they've spent 18 months talking shit about him to anyone who couldn't run away quickly enough. Admitting he's overpriced and overrated would be losing face in their eyes, they're oblivious to the fact that their continual hyping of him makes them look like idiots.

The job he does is mental really. Pogba has all the skills etc but he is a joke off the ball and where Pogba would lose it Fernandinho would keep it or win it back.. That is the difference and a big reason why we are seeing possession numbers 70%+ and they aren't.

I don't know where he would go to be honest. The PSG talk so far is just that and if it goes south badly at utd they may reconsider. His ego demands a big stage and i get the feeling no big German club would entertain his methods. International management maybe?

Long may it continue, seeing them flounder with nowhere to go is satisfying. The new world order has rendered them looking for answers and none are forth coming.

If Pogba had played half as well as Fernandinho does i fully expect missions to mars named after him and statues with phrases like "the greatest human who ever lived" plastered all over the world.

However, the frightening thing is that if we weren't so fucking good the Rags would be top of the league, playing that turgid shite - probably shows the league up for what it is really.
