Sorry if it's already been posted but Custis has suggested that Roy Keane is sent in to Old Trafford to save United's season.
Just what they need. Another dinosaur who thinks abusing and bullying people is effective man management. Mercer, Busby, Shankly, Paisley were not bullies but were able to motivate people and achieve greatness with their teams. Peg is a disgrace really, much as I love what he is doing to the Rags.

Wow, i have just read the latest page in the Man City discussion thread over on the Caf,

I understand that people have their own opinions by some of the reasoning over there left be bewildered.

This suggestion that somehow English football is weaker nowadays is absurd. We have just had a World Cup where Premier League players dominated with more English-based players in the semi-finals (in all teams) than any other nation. England has its best crop of young players for 50 years.
At the current results rate the team in fifth place here will end the season with 80 plus points, more than the Rags treble-wnners achieved in 1999.
Last year Liverpool finished second but reached the Champions League final. Redcafe really is an alternative universe.

They just cannot accept its not 1999 any more - players cost more - tactics have moved on - there are new stadiums - supporters demand more........they have owners who won't splash the cash, recruit coaches who play yesterdays football. clubs with shiny stadiums not a crumbling edifice that they still try to market as the theatre of dreams, and parking the bus and getting 80pts in a season wins you nothing nowadays - they stamp their feet and whine like kids coz its not then anymore and they realise that they are becoming the new dippers.

Nothing better than watching those "Premier League Years" from the 90's to really let you know how fucking farcical it is when people try and claim the 99 team was better than our 2018 team, or that the lesser teams were better then. The standard was genuinely terrible, god awful. The amount of balding men (seriously, where did all the baldies go?) who couldn't even run playing for the lesser teams was hilarious, the standard was absolute piss.

I'd back any of the current top 5 to beat that 99 team pretty comfortably, as they genuinely wouldn't be able to get the ball off them and would be destroyed on the break every time they lost it. Players are so much better now in every regard

The major flaw in their argument about money is that when the media try and highlight the top six winning against all those below them, they fail to take into account that mid table sides are vastly better off financially than their European counterparts due to the TV deal we have here. In Germany, Spain or Italy, the financial difference is far greater than it is here.
