What makes me laugh is the rag fans blame woodward for everything and harp back to the GPC and Gill days.
The Gpc in his first four years struggled and Gill never even appointed a manager.
1986 - 2012 were not the norm for the rags as they seem to believe.
For most of their history the rags were a very average side.
This current side and their the manager are the norm but they cannot seem to get their heads around this.
With the exception of the GPC their managers were given no more time than managers at every other club.
The rags have no concept of their own clubs history pre 1986.

You can't expect rag fans to know that much about the club they support surely ?

Ferguson's team had become the default Champions, who hoovered up titles when their opponents fucked up. They were used to it. They did it to us, but they hadn't changed in years, just kept getting stuff on a plate.

If we had maintained our standards like they used to, just for one more season, we would have easily won a 2nd title under Mancini, but he was too busy arguing about who he needed to sign & picking fights rather than realising how good we already were & keeping up that winning spirit. All Pellegrini did was freshen that team up for a season & the rags had nothing left. Ferguson knew that & had fucked off.

Moyes was always going to be a joke, but I don't actually think LVG was anywhere near as bad as people made out, it's just that they required instant gratification & he is a drastic change in football style.

He probably wasn't going to get Utd to the top level, but he could have put in place a team which played good quality technical football & was ready for someone to work on.

Mourinho has just destroyed pretty much everything, including the players he himself actually signed. All of them, Pogba, Sanchez, even Lukaku, would be playing better football under LVG, football which is more in tune with the way the top teams are now playing.

They chose to abandon football, in order to guarantee titles.

But they only succeeded in abandoning football.

LVG was the perfect foundation for building a modern elite side. He was literally the foundation of 2012-2016 Bayern Munich and started the transition into what became Pep's Barcelona.

His football is outdated and so wasn't nearly as effective as it was 15 years earlier, but the basic principles he was instilling in the team are the same ones every modern possession based side uses. All they needed was to appoint an attacking possession based manager and they'd be flying. Someone who could add speed and urgency to van Gaal's structure.

It really pissed me off when that fat fuck Custis tried to claim he was even worse than Mourinho, it just showed such a basic lack of understanding how modern football works.

Was thinking they will go for Poch but a bet poch doesn’t want the rags job where he will be scrutinised every game with real pressure just like the madrid job! At the moment he has a qualtiy team playing great football with no pressure, he just signed a long term contract why leave all that behind?! I have the feeling he be another wenger and be there years and years.

I think his biggest problem was that every season we had to start off with the media bullshit that Utd's players were all 'the best' when in reality hardly any of Ferguson's side would have got into ours. They were just used to his methods & to playing together in that way & winning & teams were scared of them.

So therefore, of course, they should be right at the top under LVG. Then the transfers in weren't great either.

Mourinho is desperately trying to make sure everyone knows that his players aren't good enough (even though he's spent a fucking fortune) so when he's fired, it won't be his fault.

But if he was fired today, he would be leaving Utd well behind where they were under LVG, so far as buidling a modern football team goes.

In an hours time the draw will be made for the last 16. Whoever the raggies get it is more than likely they will be knocked out. As they will not make the top 4 this season they will not be in the Champs league next season.
The worrying thing is this will mean that next season they will be able to concentrate on the league.

No you daft sod, not winning it, staying in it.
