It's interesting that over on ragcafe a significant number want peg gone and are promoting either Conte or Zidane as a possible successor. Think about that for a moment: two managers whose styles of play could be said to be the antithesis of each other.

There is the issue made manifest: no real philosophy as a club; no real thought as to what each manager would bring and no real thought to what they would leave, just pin the tale on the donkey of a manager that's done a good job in the past.

Long may it continue.

Give it Giggseh.

Give it Giggseh.

Surely that would totally confuse them. Just the concept of crossing the halfway line (going forwards) would be totally alien to the majority of their 9 man defence.
The danger is that they might actually get used to it eventually and start causing the occasional upset.
So glad they got psg in champions league - neymar, mbappe and cavani vs smallthing, phil the face, fatboy shaw (if he is fit - okay, wrong word, able to play) and ageing winger valencia shold be real fun.

Mbappe v Dalot. Gotta love Jose’s humour.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned but all the pundits last season criticising Chelsea for selling Matic and the master stroke it was by Mourinho.

They did a great job getting rid of him knowing he only be had the best part of one season left. To get £40 million was great business.

£40M out of the scum is pretty average business.

Was thinking they will go for Poch but a bet poch doesn’t want the rags job where he will be scrutinised every game with real pressure just like the madrid job! At the moment he has a qualtiy team playing great football with no pressure, he just signed a long term contract why leave all that behind?! I have the feeling he be another wenger and be there years and years.
Especially when you look at the table and they're right up our jacksy

Ferguson retiring and our emergence as a power again sent them into a panic. For over 20 years due to a fortunate set of circumstances and having more money than most they reigned mainly supreme. Moyes was supposed to be the bright young manager to continue the dynasty but that turned into a disaster. Van Gaal was too abrasive and slightly nuts, then along came Mourhino. A manager with a good trophy record but already showing signs of being a busted flush and volatile, usually lasting only three years at clubs. Winning what they would normally regard as two second class trophies papered over the cracks and got their mainly spoiled and stupid fan base all giddy again.

They are in real trouble now. They have spent an absolute fortune on players who have not lived up to their promise or reputations and due to this and their high wages will be hard to move on. They need to probably spend at least another 300 million on the right players and characters to compete at the top table again and have the right manager at the helm. You would think they are too big and wealthy a club not to be back up there soon but who knows?
