No way has he been brought in to swing the axe. Mourinho would’ve done that had the club wanted that to happen. They’ve just extended contracts for a few of their shittest players.
I’m sure there was a degree of putting a positive spin on things, but when Utd fans were celebrating Solsjkaer’s appointment they should’ve surely noticed that all rival fans were also delighted with the move. Their current malaise is by no means down to him, but it was patently obvious to most observers that he wasn’t the man to get them out of it. God bless Agent Woodward.
