He’s incredibly lucky, 9 out of ten shots go straight at him like you said.I’ve always said De Gea only saves thing hit straight at him.
Today he proved me wrong. He managed to avoid getting in the way.

How is it I immediately thought of David Silva's 5th goal in a well-known match, where De Gea was pounding the floor in frustration?I've always thought almost the opposite. He seems to get nutmegged consistently or fumbles it if it is near a legs. One of the most common sights is him sat on the floor punching it after someone rolls the ball through his legs.

I always envision David saying "neuces" as he slots that through him.
He makes the harder saves to be fair, as non deluded blues have pointed out some shots straight at you are sometimes the hardest. I like the questioning of him as a goalkeeper though it is pretty funny. Not biased in the slightest. One of the best in the world but I would rather have Ederson for how we play.

He is vastly overrated and has been shown up as a very average keeper in this last WC but, lucky or not, he still saves those Rag bastards 12 points or so a season.
He makes the harder saves to be fair, as non deluded blues have pointed out some shots straight at you are sometimes the hardest. The problem with De Gea is he makes some great goal line reaction saves that get massively overrated both statistically and subjectively.
Oblak, Neuer and probably ter Stegen are vastly superior all round goalkeepers, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside them.
His penalty save rate is abysmal, he resolved his weakness under crosses by simply not coming for them, and if you look at the 10 goals United conceded from set pieces in the league, him staying on his line is a major issue in 80% of them.
He's terrified of leaving his box too, which is going to be a big issue whenever he plays for Spain or if United ever have to force things by pushing up.

No where near the level of some of those, makes many mistakes yet this just get ignored by the media until this world cup. He was at fault in the last world cup or Euro's, can't remember which and he cost them in the CL this year as well, totally ignored again though.
