Phil Jones is still at the swamp after 7 years.

Sums it up.

Until they actually wake up and realise that they need to completely change everything and start again, they will continue to under achieve!

Hooefully they won’t for some time!

Peg winning the two cups in his first season was probably a blessing as he would have been sacked already had he gone 2 seasons without a trophy.

They look a shambles.

I've said this several dozen times. Exactly. But they can't. They can't mire themselves in 11th or 12th while they rebuild. Their fans would never stand for it.

So they go along dumping money in the furnace, enough so that they "challenge", and keep the "winning" brand intact so they can sign up Mohawk Industries as "Manchester United's Official Area Rug Manufacturer" or whatever bullshit they come up with next.

They are Arsenal, only funnier.

Mourinho will not last the season (apologies to the Save our PEG thread), but the job is now a very poisoned chalice. And -- this is important -- whomever comes in will never have the command and control Ferguson was given, no matter who it is. Which is why they will continue to fail. The only question is whether it's a death of 1,000 cuts or a spectacular flame-out (i'd bet the former, as it already has been).

Their only chance this year to make CL this year IMO is that both Arsenal and Chelsea are in transition, and I had them finishing 6th before the season began, and today only strengthened my conviction.

I know the dudes not a full'un but that's still funny

Tbh, I never enjoyed this part of it - it was amusing years ago when he first started doing it, now he seems like someone suffering from senility. It's funny, he's negative on the pitch and off of it and that sort of negativity permeates and lingers - I prefer football without it, he's a distraction from the game for me
Interesting. I do enjoy it, I won't lie. It's different. And I like how things are different in football, on or off of the pitch.

I don't dislike the negativity basically. It gives everything else value, makes me appreciate the positivity more. Teams that park the bus help me enjoy teams that play open football. Angry managers help me appreciate happy ones. Counter attacking helps me appreciate possession football etc etc. And vice versa too. I'll assume this is down to taste.

So If Jose is going to cause carnage somewhere, I might as well appreciate it. As you say it's his own doing, it's hard to feel sympathy. And with all do respect, I hope you can appreciate that as a City fan I won't hold back on seeing the odd bad thing or two happen to my local rivals in my life, it may never happen again.

We'll see eye to eye on something I'm sure one day FCBarca! But today, we must agree to disagree :)

In all seriousness, what's the major issue here?
Because it's either he's sending them out with awful instructions, or they're not following them.

And I actually think it's the latter. For starters, he's got too much of a successful track record to suggest he's tactically inept.
But then, the crazy amount of individual errors they make, and the constant attitude they have makes me actually think the players are the problem. Mourinho is at fault here for recruiting and not motivating them, but the players need to take a lot of the blame here.

A repeat of PEG's last (part) season at the Kremlin, when the players stopped performing for the eye-gouging twat?

Yeah, they aren't playing for him. I find it hard to believe he's sending them out without a gameplan of sorts. And even if he's behind the times he can't be so far behind that he can't win a game against a mid-table side with a side like he's got.
