I think modern football has left PEG behind, no so much in terms of tactics (although it is hilarious how boring and shite they are!) but definitely massaging egos in the dressing room.

Rightly or wrongly the days of managers effing and jeffing and giving people the "hairdryer" in the dressing room have gone, these managers only last two or three seasons before they have the dressing room down tools on them.

I don't think footballers natures have changed that much during his time in management, I strongly suspect it is his character that has evolved rather than football. He appears a very different person in front of the cameras and the press than he did when he was at Chelsea first time around

Every player said they came for the project, doesn't make it true. Yaya is a compulsive liar, to suggest otherwise is crazy.

Most people have more than one motive when they seek employment and although money undoubtedly often plays a part I doubt it was the sole part in Yaya's decision and the project was important as a selling point too him,
Just about all Yaya's public actions indicate that he is concerned about how he is perceived as a player, being African player of the year was important to him not getting player of the year was seen as a slight. He had just seen his place in the Barca team usurped by the then little known Busquets , I would be amazed if his pride wasn't hurt. He would want to be seen to be achieving in another team , if we had sold the idea to him purely as a monetary proposition he would have been far less interested than as a proposition of a team striving for top honours where he could be the main man.
Even now he would rather go to Greece than China where the money is undoubtedly bigger for a player of his stature.
I don't think he would have come to us if we hadn't offered big money but I also doubt he would have come if that was all we offered.

It's why I honestly think he would benefit from a break from the game. Back then he was fun and mischievous. He could still be a shit often enough, but his demeanour was playful. Now it's just miserable.

I quite like Rashford and think if you go off stats it is a little harsh. There are many other factors to consider. Firstly he is a striker being played wide. He is playing in a team that isn't attacking in the slightest. He doesn't get a stretch of games to gain confidence , to be pulled in and out of the team I would imagine is hard to gain any sort of form. Jose has fucked him over for me, decent player still nowhere near the level of a City player.

I think you're right, but I think he's aware that he might end up out of the loop entirely. Even this summer he went and did media stuff for RT of all places, when he could have just kicked back a bit.
Almost the only place to go is international management, Portugal maybe or a cash-rich place like Russia.
