I enjoy the banter as much as the next man but christ that is scraping the barrel isn't it.

Are their flood lights taller than ours :-D
We should have a banner showing off the awards our groundsmen have won.

I don't understand the reasoning many utd fans are using to come to the conclusion last year was a one off for us. Nothing points to that at all, not one iota of happenings point to that. So next season we should theoretically drop off a bit right? This demands that A, we have regressed B, Utd and others have built a setup over one summer to challenge us.

Pep will obviously improve this season, and yes utd fans it is obvious due to the preceding 10 years available info on Peps managerial career. If we bought nobody then the team is 12 months tighter knitted and still better than the rest.

Any united fans can i ask, what reasoning do you use to come to this conclusion, i would be interested to hear it. What have you seen in the last x years that leads you to believe last season was a one off for us? For myself it seemed very much like improvement year on year so why would this season be different?

Its fairly obvious to me - that is all they can cling to

You have to give it to them on the Caf, so we only won the league due to our tactics:) Well what did they expect? for us to turn up on match day without any forethought on how to play the opposition.
Our defence is awful but conceded the least goals of any team in the league. And the reason we conceded the least number of goals is because we give away so few chances.
That's just being unfair on everyone else, maybe we should allow teams to walk through our shit defence.

Fuck me i can't believe how we won the league after reading that.

The opening post kind of reads like a "what did the Romans do for us?" thing. It seems we only won because of our tactics. Fucking moronic dipper of all things stating the bleeding obvious on rag caff - they are clearly merging into one amorphous blob of shite.
True

I loved this from the OP's second contribution, especially the last sentence:

Don't get me wrong I still think you'll win the league again, mainly because Guardiola teams improve season after season, and also your squad depth, I just don't think your team is a 'perfect' team if there is any such thing. I think your weaknesses will remain making it possible for someone else to win the league, unless Laporte lives up to his price tag and performs at a world class level, or Kompany remains fit. Because Stones and Otamendi are mediocre defenders. You'd also need Mendy to return to some semblance of good form because in the bigger games, delph was a liability.

Champions regress. It's almost a law. Psychological. Hunger dips, opponents raise their game. City x 2, Leicester, Chelsea x 2 all suffered in recent seasons. I don't believe anyone has successfully defended the Premier League for about a decade.

We played almost to our full potential last season. You could argue that our potential has increased this Summer, but will we operate close to maximum?

One moment defined why this won't happen under Pep.

Last game of the season could have eased off and settled for 98 points but keep pushing right up to KDB on to Jesus.
The celebrations tell the story, Pep and his team want to make History.

I think the players saw the title was sewn up pretty early, however they still seemed hungry until the final whistle of the final match to me. I consider that the first "real" season for the squad. The first was prep work, forming the framework etc. Last season saw them get a taste, these lads do not seem the mentality to drop off. Indeed i think about 50% of Txiki's work is sorting out mentally stout players from not and why i feel we would never touch someone like Neymar even if he kicked on to be a multi world player of the year.

Peps teams have never done this dropping off either that i know, they have bled until the death for him. Unless it is sewn up and he rectified that after seeing it at Bayern, the title was still won well though. Peps teams to not start to die off, he leaves the club before any rot sets in or in our case possibly ship them all out (since he has ultimate power here). This is one of Pep's finest qualities, never letting levels drop!

I don't think we were at our best either so have room to improve even if we never got Mahrez. Everything i have seen so far shows that improvement will come. I am excited for the coming season more than most because i think it will be tougher and we will STILL have a solid point gap come the end of the season. Unless everyone gets injured i just can't see Pep letting levels drop one bit, indeed he will have ideas for us to evolve and improve as a squad no doubt.

You could note fatigue a bit for Sterling but he is in his prime recovery and health wise with Mahrez and Sane fresh as a dew dripping daisy. Stones will be ok, Delph reasonably well rested even though he was active enough to demand all his efforts i.e. not just training and unused. Walker will be a bit fucked but again our strength in depth will see us fine i feel.

Others will be tired to, but our rivals such as they are will be equally hampered, well almost equally. I feel our strength in depth will make up for this and is a focus of Pep atm.

Shows you how many people dont actually watch games and just repeat what they think is a popular opinion.
If delph was wearing red last season he would of made the premier league team of thr year.

confirms what we all know - not a massively improved squad - can he unlock the Pogba enigma? Style ( or lack of ) football and a man who comes across as almost disheartened - its gonna be the dippers that could be the biggest threat in the coming season. I can see nothing but strife and sterile football at the swamp

Yes.

Pogba's a decent bloke and must be disheartened playing for the deranged gouger.

How will De Gea perform after that disastrous world cup?

Lingard and Young were awful too.

Sack watch!
