United thread 2018/19

Some of them are hurting big time. However. I found this little gem - this United fan gets it:

I'm a die-hard United fan and I feckin hate City and their lottery win. But you need to check yourself. Their ownership has come in with a business acumen that far surpasses most of these other billionaire takeovers.

1) take over City. They could have come in for a number of other clubs. Instead they targeted England's most successful club and business. Classic case of any fame is good fame. Noisy neighbors? Yeah, they got the spotlight on them now

2) so many (incl. me) are all so cynical, jealous and bitter about the unfathomable amounts of money being thrown around by City. But take a step back. How else do you knock Manchester feckin United off their perch?! A club whose three decades of success coinicided with globalization of English football and an influx of financial wealth and marketing wet-dream type exposure. Abramovich naively threw money at his team and lucked out with a once in generation manager in Jose to put Chelsea in the fold. Still, that was in the early 2000s

3) Marketing and sales. Again, we all laugh at City's Twitter wars, their billboards etc. Manchester feckin United launched their YouTube and IG pages when? City has been overly aggressive in their digital media campaigns, but if there's any decade where exposure is important , good or bad it's now. You Manchester locals may still laugh at the Emptihad .Over in the states, too many of the youth leagues are full of kids following their City idols on all social media , video games and so on.

4) Globalization. I live in NYC and after getting to grips with the ownership, I've started going to NYFC games and cheering on the local ewww sky blue. Can someone explain to me how New York City's football team (Red Bulls play in a waste dump in New Jersey that's a pain in the ass to access) is a sibling of Manchester City? How the feck did we let this happen???? Fair play to Citys ownership. That's some vision there.

5) Make it rain. Bring in the most progessive manager in the present game , getting the deal set up years inadvance. Be prepared to tinker and throw money around for almost a decade til it clicks. Manage your fecking risk by looking at the big picture. City are relevant now. They have rewritten history of the English Premier League. They planned for the long term, both in England and in the rest of the world.

United fans whinging about the money these spent by other clubs need to get some perspective. WE are the bloody trust fund kids that have gambled and boozed away our inheritance. No one manager or group of players is to blame. But feck me, we need to stop being pennywise, pound foolish or we will be completely overtaken by more ambitious and visionary football clubs .

Reading through that thread I’d rather have no blue take part in the discussion but each to their own. Granted the blues who are there seem to be trying to defend the club and all the power to them, I don’t see the point in repetitively trying to interact through the rags’ sly digs and backhanded comments.

Let the rags collude into this mentality of conspiracy and holier than thou, soon they will even bore themselves to death. Even some of their own are now on their constant whining and broken record remarks. I expect they only continue to embarassingly convince each other because they are aware of the City fans there and the others who lurk. Take away their audience and I bet they will come crawling here in bluemoon and other comment sections on the web to prostelysise the anti City rally call. It’s the small social media victory that counts for them now.

I say Let them wake up each day, put on their tinfoil hats, and wander their house muttering “oil money, oil money, oil money” under each breath.

We on the other hand, continue to appreciate more of the football Pep has made us play, the owner that has given us a lot to be happy about, and the surreal experience of watching City evolve on various fronts.

I found his deployment of the term ‘make the playground even’ to be highly amusing, given the motivations and apparent closed-shop structure behind the putative Super League. Fucking clown.

To be fair, Random Task is very well clued up. In fact, he's so clued up that when a thread was started on there about which were the best pubs to drink in on an Old Trafford match-day he had no fucking idea that Sammy Platts had been demolished. On the other hand, I was actually helping the fuckers out with some recommendations that didn't involve places that were no longer open, me being a good neighbour and all that!

I love the comment that City haven't earned it. As much as I hate that lot, I've got time for all fans who put the hard yards into following their team whoever that might be, but you can guarantee that more often than not those spouting the "not earned it" shite are wankers who have done the sum total of fuck-all in their football supporting lives to earn the right to bask in the reflective glory of United winning trophies.

No. He actually gets slated a lot on here - unfairly IMO - for "sucking up" to them but more often than not he takes them to the fucking cleaners. He just does it in a more polite way than me ;)
Padr81, like city, seems to be playing the long game. I wouldn't last 5 minutes on there.

Taken from the caf thread above .... We can but it doesn't look like we have the fight to take them on. Like there's a resignation around the club that we can't compete. Despite being a rich club ourselves. They can't get any better than they are right now so the onus is on the other teams to catch up.

I wouldn't be so sure raggy.

I hope Pep makes our boys watch last seasons derby back again, they cant be complacent and cant be turning over the football in daft places where we got caught out in April. Plus dont give one of their big lump centre halves a mile of space to nod a free kick in. They are utter shite but like being the plucky underdog that gets lucky with their awful crash bang wallop, smash it up the pitch and leg it football.

Dont rest anyone and give it them kitchen sink and everything.

Heads gone all over the show on that thread. Fair play to the blue who goes back to them, I wouldn't have the patience. Mad how deluded they are and how much they forget. They described Fergie as being on a budget ffs. How has no one pulled them up on that.
