Paul Pogba is a lazy bastard who cares too much about his image to ever be considered a world class player, he had potential never fulfilled yet is somehow put on a pedestal... people say look at him for France and for Juventus! Okay let's look.

For Juventus he had Pirlo the deep lying playmaker, in front of Pirlo he also had behind him Arturo Vidal in his prime and Claudio Marchisio a very underrated player... Both the latter would run around like maniacs pressing the opposition giving Pogba no defensive duties, he had complete freedom they also played with wing backs at times he literally had to do fuck all going back.

For France they literally have to play with 2 CB's at fullback to stay back and have 2 and sometimes 3 central midfielders behind him like Juve, even then when they got knocked out he wasn't tracking his man lazy bone idle fucker... Paul Pogba is nothing more than an overhyped luxury player that not many serious teams can afford to have hindering them.

It worked at Juve cos of the 2 workhorses and defensively solid team, and it worked with France cos they defended so much had Kante and other hardworking players waiting to counter using Mbappe's pace... France in 2018 if Mbappe was injured they'd have gone out early they relied heavily on his pace, so much it was laughable other teams couldn't adapt to stop them.

During Pogba's stay at the rags they've been a Mickey mouse club never had positionally aware reliable workhorse types, they've never been really solid and they certainly couldn't be called a serious team by any stretch of the imagination and without all that he's a total liability.

If City signed him I think Pep would've regretted it in the same way he regretted swapping Eto'o for Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Barca, cos he's too luxury and wouldn't work hard enough tracking back or take on board his advice not even for Pep, there's a reason baconface played fullbacks in central midfield ahead of him... on FIFA games his defending should literally be 25 tops.
Great post mate,and bang on.

Sooooooooooooo, all that aside he's world class right?

Great post pal, however I clearly remember a 1000 page Pogba thread on this website when we thought we were buying him, he looked like a replacement for Yaya (sounds daft hearing that now) and plenty of posters were excited at the prospect.

The big question for me is would he have been a success for us? Like he was at Juventus and France when he had the right team around him. One thing that sticks in my mind is the Juventus fan I knew at the time who despite his success didn’t rate him and in my mind he has been proven correct. The player is an enigma, although I am sure many on here would use a different word!
Even though I wasn't on the site I certainly wasn't one of them in that way of thinking, never thought he looked even close to what Yaya was or even similar he's a pure attacking midfielder with no duties... In my view he'd have been a disaster we already had De Bruyne and David Silva and Fernandinho and Sterling too, he'd have been a liability with our slow fullbacks at the time he'd defo have took the blame for any misfortunes in our back line not tracking back... Yaya took flak for it and he even towards the end he still tracked back more than Pogba.

Personally I don't think he'd have been a success he's too lazy players like Bernardo have more in them ability wise for me, even when Bernardo doesn't play well the effort is there and that helps the team out a lot
I wanted us to sign Gundogan years earlier too shame the injuries ruined his engine he really got about in his younger years, saw him as a Xavi type player was very surprised Barca never moved for him maybe it was the injuries scaring them off.
that Juventus fan was clearly right I thought all what I said before I even saw him return to the rags... Pjanic is another one for me flopped unsurprisingly at Barca, never thought he'd have what it takes but he's a lot more suited to City than Pogba.

Pogba is the type of player that Ozil is except in my view Ozil hit much higher heights than Pogba has so far or probs ever will, Mesut Ozil had substance and style at his best whether at Schalke, Real Madrid and for Germany too... but he made the mistake of joining Arsenal instead of a PSG type team that'd be built around him. Pogba needs the same but isn't even near Ozil's level he is all about style for me turns up when he wants, he has a much poorer output... The best footballers turn up even when people said Ozil was lazy, he still came up with the assist numbers or chances created he was a luxury player with substance for me Pogba isn't.

I replied just now above... In my opinion he's below world class level and never will be for me, it's like Anelka you know if they were more intelligent and really tried then maybe they could be in that bracket... Pogba is like Anelka capable of being world class never actually often showing it.

Juan Carlos Valeron and Luis Enrique are both 10x the playmaker or attacking midfielder Pogba could ever be in whichever role you'd choose to play him, lots of people wouldn't put Valeron or Enrique in the world class bracket (personally I did their profiles aren't as heralded as Pogba) both surpassed Pogba ability wise as that creative or all action type number 10.

Enrique was so much more too.
