Great post pal, however I clearly remember a 1000 page Pogba thread on this website when we thought we were buying him, he looked like a replacement for Yaya (sounds daft hearing that now) and plenty of posters were excited at the prospect.Paul Pogba is a lazy bastard who cares too much about his image to ever be considered a world class player, he had potential never fulfilled yet is somehow put on a pedestal... people say look at him for France and for Juventus! Okay let's look.
For Juventus he had Pirlo the deep lying playmaker, in front of Pirlo he also had behind him Arturo Vidal in his prime and Claudio Marchisio a very underrated player... Both the latter would run around like maniacs pressing the opposition giving Pogba no defensive duties, he had complete freedom they also played with wing backs at times he literally had to do fuck all going back.
For France they literally have to play with 2 CB's at fullback to stay back and have 2 and sometimes 3 central midfielders behind him like Juve, even then when they got knocked out he wasn't tracking his man lazy bone idle fucker... Paul Pogba is nothing more than an overhyped luxury player that not many serious teams can afford to have hindering them.
It worked at Juve cos of the 2 workhorses and defensively solid team, and it worked with France cos they defended so much had Kante and other hardworking players waiting to counter using Mbappe's pace... France in 2018 if Mbappe was injured they'd have gone out early they relied heavily on his pace, so much it was laughable other teams couldn't adapt to stop them.
During Pogba's stay at the rags they've been a Mickey mouse club never had positionally aware reliable workhorse types, they've never been really solid and they certainly couldn't be called a serious team by any stretch of the imagination and without all that he's a total liability.
If City signed him I think Pep would've regretted it in the same way he regretted swapping Eto'o for Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Barca, cos he's too luxury and wouldn't work hard enough tracking back or take on board his advice not even for Pep, there's a reason baconface played fullbacks in central midfield ahead of him... on FIFA games his defending should literally be 25 tops.
The big question for me is would he have been a success for us? Like he was at Juventus and France when he had the right team around him. One thing that sticks in my mind is the Juventus fan I knew at the time who despite his success didn’t rate him and in my mind he has been proven correct. The player is an enigma, although I am sure many on here would use a different word!
