I can't help but think that the preposterous non offside decision against City when we played at Triffid gave them some kind of unwarranted self belief in their over inflated self opinions.
Then, winning against a poor Barca side, then a cup, actually brought them to a point whereby they actually thought they were contenders.
The Dunning-Kruger effect springs to mind here.

Well if you are playing against bottom of the table teams you can, however when they come up against a dangerous team like Liverpool they would come a cropper.

Liverpool like to throw the kitchen sink at teams in sustained 15-20 minute spells. You either weather it or concede a lot of goals and are out of the game by the end of it. Going completely gung ho the rags left themselves wide open, we’ve taken some beatings pre 2008 however could you imagine what it would be like to witness a seven goal mauling with the personnel at City’s disposal?

The only reason they didn't concede 8 against us earlier in the season is we conserved energy in the 2nd half, as the game was won.
We really should have ripped them apart with a statement win.

Don’t be fooled by the emperor’ new clothes in Ten Haag, he is 6 points better after 25 games compared to last season. This is at the same time of having a goal difference of plus 6.

Their chums in the media have been telling us how they have the best defence in the league. They also have the best striker in the world in the Wythenshawe fish finger peddler, this all the while a generational striker like Haaland scores at record rates. Apart from Rashford who else is getting the goals and what happens when the purple patch comes to an end?

We should have won at Old Trafford.

We played that second half perfectly, Guardiola knows the way to beat United is to starve them of the ball and to not allow them to transition.

We were in total control and if not for the worst decision the sport has seen for years, we'd have won the game.
