There's a reason he's the 'scapegoat' and that's because he's shit. Heading away corners and free kicks is his limit. With the ball on the deck he is awful.
United and England have given him chance after chance to steady his game and he's failed to take any of them.
Before he signed for the rags he was a decent ball playing centre back playing in a defensive Leicester City. Since being at the rags & not having the same cover his lack of pace makes him panic

Phil the Face is still there because, unbelievably, they voluntarily gave him a new contract instead of letting his old one run down. That contract is up in June so no doubt they'll offer him another.
He could have had a decent career lower down the league(s) but chose to stay in United's reserves - maybe he did it as an act of charity towards whoever would have bought him.

I find the scapegoating/narrative of Maguire very disturbing.

It's become a national thing, with the mainstream and social media taking it in turns to pick up the baton.

It's bullying, pure and simple.

He's made a few mistakes, but he's conveniently carrying the can for a club and a supporter base looking for anything to excuse away how shit they are.

Sancho and Anthony cost a combined £160m and have been nothing short of lamentable.

The Glazers are accused of all sorts, yet they consistently ensure United are one of the top spenders and sanctioned a record £300m splurge last summer.

Maguire is the main target on the back pages today when anyone with a brain knows De Gea was at fault for two goals.

People even cite his looks. A bunch of fucking shitbags looking for an easy pile-on, when they wouldn't fucking dare to do it to his face.

One day a player is going to be taken to the brink and then all these pricks will all clutch their pearls and ask what we can do to avoid a tragedy in the future?

Maguire is having a bad time of it, but most people will at some stage, when nothing seems to go right.

He's a dad, a husband, a son.

United and their sycophants all need to look closer to home, starting with their entitlement.
Mate the mask has finally slipped. Welcome home Harry. It’s ok you are safe now and among friends -:)

100 correct on the abuse he receives. Sickening.

Andy Mitten has just been on Sky Sports and has just broken the world record for how many times someone can say Manchester United in 5 minutes
I didn't see it, but, as a well known scum supporting journalist, who is only ever interviewed about the scum, once the scummy subject matter had been introduced, there was no need to keep inflicting the 'U' word on innocent viewers such as your goodself. You have my sincere sympathy - whereas scummers, including Mitten, have my sincere derision.

By the time they play Spurs next week, they might have had 3 new arseholes ripped for them within 7 days.

Scum.

This 100 per cent. You called it right - it’s bullying pure and simple. Spineless pricks taking cheap shots knowing full well that the player has no comeback. Watch what happens when someone has a go back at these so called journalists on Twitter - they block people, cry and play the victim.
Football holds all the cards and it needs to fight back against the media and demand higher standards…. We all deserve better coverage of our national sport than most of the drivel the printed press, Talksport, Sky and BT serve up.

Commendable words, although this has always been the way in the forum of professional football. They get the big bucks and the downside is potshots on their abilities.
As utd are a media sex toy, there is no way they will vigourously go ater the whole club, anyway. Deflection tactics to zero-in the baying mobs aim at the easy target.
However, let's not be too sympathetic, the hate and bullying campaign we as a club, and fan base (unbelievably), have been going through for 15 years shows no sign of stopping.
My empathy with other clubs fans and players is worn thinner than a pound shop condom. Just look at the comments we receive online (and in the media) when City have a success, it is disgusting.

It’s also very noticeable which news stories on websites like the BBC have comments sections open or closed - it’s no coincidence; the media is fuelling and driving the hate agenda when it suits them.
