I find the scapegoating/narrative of Maguire very disturbing.

It's become a national thing, with the mainstream and social media taking it in turns to pick up the baton.

It's bullying, pure and simple.

He's made a few mistakes, but he's conveniently carrying the can for a club and a supporter base looking for anything to excuse away how shit they are.

Sancho and Anthony cost a combined £160m and have been nothing short of lamentable.

The Glazers are accused of all sorts, yet they consistently ensure United are one of the top spenders and sanctioned a record £300m splurge last summer.

Maguire is the main target on the back pages today when anyone with a brain knows De Gea was at fault for two goals.

People even cite his looks. A bunch of fucking shitbags looking for an easy pile-on, when they wouldn't fucking dare to do it to his face.

One day a player is going to be taken to the brink and then all these pricks will all clutch their pearls and ask what we can do to avoid a tragedy in the future?

Maguire is having a bad time of it, but most people will at some stage, when nothing seems to go right.

He's a dad, a husband, a son.

United and their sycophants all need to look closer to home, starting with their entitlement.
So what you’re sayin Tolm is we are signing Maguire????

I gather you'd blame De Gea for the first goal Tolm, I still saw it more as Maguire's fault.

However.

Between the pair of them, they are trying to play out from the back as instructed by Ten Hag. When City started doing that under Pep, we made numerous mistakes and he continued to back them continued to praise them and gave them the confidence and strength to continue that way until they had it nailed down.

Ten Hag meanwhile, does nothing of the sort, despite neither Maguire or De Gea being a natural fit for playing that way.
Sorry, I've watched that goal several times now so that I no longer see its pure comedy value. My first instinct was that De Gea was to blame more than Maguire and I still haven't changed my view. We often say that De Gea isn't good with his feet but we ought to point out more often that he hasn't got any brains. Whatever he was doing it was most certainly not "playing out from the back". Certainly mistakes can be made when playing out from the back and passes can be misplaced at any time in any area of the pitch but how a "Manchester United legend" can pass to a "club captain" who can see three opponents cutting of his pass lines to (distant)team mates and honing in on him. Any centre half would have struggled: the ponderous Maguire had no chance. The likeliest outcome followed like night follows day.

If that was City and we'd just got battered by a bang average team, I would be absolutely fucking livid with one of our players having a laugh and a joke with the ref after the game (Casemiro 5:23 - 5:27). What the actual fuck???
If you were Casemiro you'd be having a laugh. Massive pay rise to plod about for ghe last few years of your career...
