Yup, and my red ‘mate’ was all cocky because we have a bet 25 quid per place, and i give him 2 places. Now he’s asking me how much to buy out of the bet
I heard Peter Schmeichel interviewed yesterday and Scruffy Jim came up. He said he believes Jimbob will
1/ build the rags a new Old Toilet ...........
2/ put them at the top of things - "where they belong" as he put it.
Entitled - I don't even think there is a word that describes the level of entitlement they have
the thing is the way both them and liverpool , you would think they had been at the top since football started and it had never changed since, both of them had successful periods one in the 80s and one in the 90s and that is it, both teams have been relegated in the past and both teams have had periods in the doldrums, it could be argued that liverpool have had one since there last good period in the 80s with one title in 35 years and that the rags with one in ten are slap bang in the middle of one so the level of entitlement their fans have is astonishing. As you say, this whole "where they belong" sums up their problems in 3 words. It's like they no longer understand or maybe accept that it's actually a competitive sport. No concept of hard work, competence, humility or resilience being key to earnt success. Simply an assumption about their due based on being in the right place at the right time at the dawn of sky sports and years of ludicrous self mythologising abetted by marketing dressed up as journalism.
In terms of where they actually "belong" they're not far from that place, maybe 2 or 3 positions higher than they should be. They are an incredibly poorly run outfit who mitigate some of their legion of failings by their ability to chuck money at things and by being a bit 'lucky' , all of which makes them a mid table proposition.
They never have to justify their claims, any of the rag-Sly people. I've said it before and I won't stop saying it, Sly sports exists solely as a vehicle for all things vermin - mostly rags. They will not present a balanced viewpoint regardless of a possible drop in audience figures, because it is beyond them now. They have been promoting all things rag since they started broadcasting in the late 80's, basically forcing the Premier League to break away from the old system. The rags grabbed the opportunity with both hands and their subsequent financial muscle enabled them to 'blow everybody outa the water' (to quote that appalling spiv 'Arry).I would love someone to challenge spitty or ratboy or schmeichel and say explain why that is where they belong,
Think there was a slight typo there.Jamie “sorry Miss” Jackson was writing the same bollocks in the Graun.I watched the game at my Tarquins BiL’s and I don’t remember witnessing….
”Before a watching Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Manchester United were an athletic, vibrant proposition who came up against the precise same entity in Tottenham in this sense-tingling, rip-roarer of an encounter.”
Seriously, I scrolled back up to check that I’d clicked on the right link.
Good post, but come on, everybody would die to play for the great Melchester Rovers alongside the legend that is Roy Racethe weird thing is, his argument does not hold water, they have spent over 1 billion pounds with ffp and bought crap with it, there is not a player currently playing in the pl that they couldnt have bought with ffp in place, they are using ffp as a shield to hide from chronic mismanagement and expect people with half a brain to swallow it.
Ask this to any united fan , take away ffp tomorrow and give them 500m to spend, is the assumption that it fixes the team because im not sure how it does as they would have to shift players out who are on very big contracts to make way for new signings and lets say you write those contracts off which would cost around 250m, are you absolutely sure that everyone wants to play for the rags because that is no longer the case anymore despite united fans clinging to that roy of the rovers bullshit that they desperately believe so its all well and good having the money, convincing the clubs and players to come to you is a different ballgame entirely.
Final point is we were told by the media and opposition fans that we could have all the money in the world and it wouldnt make a difference as money doesnt buy success, but apparently now when they dont have success it makes a massive difference.
