They were completely caught cold with the first goal. Mainoo was injured after 3 mins, and while they were working out what to do with him, sub or let him go back on, Bellingham latched onto a ball over the top and scored. Not sure if he was a offside because they only showed it from one angle.

Ancelotti was playing on the counter, allowing them to have the ball but springing traps and they had some joy with it. Onana made some saves. There was a moment when Varane had the ball and RM pressed him and he just launched it long and Onana had a go at him for not passing it back to him. I can see some shennanigans with this relationship over the course of the season.

Going foward, there was little change in Ten Hag's new look team from the fa cup final. Everytime they had the ball in the final 3rd, they didn't know what to do with it. One reporter wrote, "The missing striker is so evident, it is almost like being served a roast dinner with no knife and fork to eat it." Yeah, they couldn't finish their dinner.

Outside of the starting 11, there is still a massive drop off in quality. Players on the bench are lower to mid-table at the very best.

They are shit but the first goal was clearly offside.
