I want to make it clear that in no way defending this approach when managers come to a new club.

The point is that an incoming manager will often choose to go back to the old club, because he knows about the capabilities of the player - absolutely no fucking idea why Ten Haag thought that Anthony would be a success if he knew anything about his temperament and personality !

The bigger criticism is because whilst the above may be the case, they and the recruitment team, must fail to see is that the payer may not adapt to a new and stronger league or the players he is being asked to settle in with.

Poor scouting, player research etc becomes the fly in the ointment, and the rags have plenty of shit experiences to suggest that their whole set-up is a shambles.
I know it’s a long time ago, but that is exactly what Kendall did, when he came to City.

Reid, Pointon, Harper, Heath and Clarke all followed Howard to City, with varying degrees of success.

Another reason for getting players from your old club is to surround yourself with friends and allies - but unfortunately footballers are not renowned for their loyalty to anything except money.

I don't totally accept that concept in the case of all players , but I do accept the " friends and allies " aspect.

A truly capable and knowledgeable manager however is aware of players across different leagues and not restricted to players within their own league.

TH for instance, appeared to trust only players he knew, and presumably because of the lack of a knowledgeable director of football, simply allowed him to buy shite players with poor temperaments etc.

Anyway fuck them .......................

Oh I accept it can work but I suspect a lot depends upon the manager in question.

Howard Kendall might have actually known those player, whereas Ten Haag clearly didn't know much about his signings, except perhaps that they were dutch ?

On the flip side to Kendall and ten Bob, none of Bobby, Pellers and Pep went back to former clubs, because their knowledge of the game and players was much more comprehensive. Fernandinho arriving from Shakhtar is a prime example. Very few people knew about him, but Manuel did.

That really identifies the make up and abilities good managers possess, with a wide knowledge of players,as opposed the less well informed.

I was guilty of initially thinking £30 million was a huge fee for Fernandinho, and what the fuck are we doing , as I knew nothing about him.

I also failed my interview for the DOF job !

Watching Amorimjob's face after the game yesterday he was deep in thought and using my powers of deduction I'm sure he was thinking these lot are fucking shit and its going to take a while to get rid of most of them.

Only another 29 consecutive defeats to go, then United fans can hang a new 34 defeats banner at the Stretford End.

Absolutely pathetic.

Grown men, dressed in black(arf!), holding up a bed sheet, with childish words on it.

But it doesn't. The addition of the word AGAIN kills the rhyme. My God they are fucking stupid.
