Another reason for getting players from your old club is to surround yourself with friends and allies - but unfortunately footballers are not renowned for their loyalty to anything except money.I want to make it clear that in no way defending this approach when managers come to a new club.
The point is that an incoming manager will often choose to go back to the old club, because he knows about the capabilities of the player - absolutely no fucking idea why Ten Haag thought that Anthony would be a success if he knew anything about his temperament and personality !
The bigger criticism is because whilst the above may be the case, they and the recruitment team, must fail to see is that the payer may not adapt to a new and stronger league or the players he is being asked to settle in with.
