The commentator on TNT last night referred to them as FCSB and you see it typed on fixtures everywhere. What happened to good old "Steaua Bucharest"?
I didn’t even realise it was Steaua, until you told me.

It’s pathetic, isn’t it? Shortening everything to a three or four letter abbreviation.

They are in dispute with the Romanian army over who own the rights to the original name. So now there are 2 teams both claiming to be Steaua Bucharest. The army version are in a lower division.

Why should it matter, after all we've got a team in our league claiming to be from Manchester and no one bats an eyelid.

Cheers. I read up on it on by break shortly after my post. It's a shame. Steaua Bucharest is one of the old romantic names in European football. Those cheeky chaps at Anfield like it so much, they take a banner with it on to one match a year.

They certainly do but it makes no sense at all.
Why would they want their closest neighbours to be reminded of something that the SAS did.
They’re an odd lot.

That's completely wild ,I had no idea about this ..
Maybe they should stage a one off match to decide who can be Spartacus ...

I’m pretty sure if you polled 100 voters across the country if the government should spend ~£200m moving a train station to facilitate Ratcliffe spending 10x that amount building a stadium, all 100 of them would say yes.

It’s really bizarre how stupid some posters are being about this. The problem is not the government spending this money, it’s the local government not doing the same to add more tram capacity for the Etihad.
All 100 would say YES ? Would they fuck!! Laughable mate

United Transfer Update
Sir Jim Ratcliife has finally admitted that Manchester United fell victim to a raft of fake scouting reports which are believed to have been leaked to them by Manchester City. As a result, the Red Devils bought a host of expensive flops including Harry Maguire, Alexis Sanchez and Fred amongst others.

Sir Jim reiterated that the Theatre of Dreams would never fall for this prank again and would move forward to secure the signings of Jacob Rees-Mogg, H from Steps and Skippy the Bush Kangaroo before deadline day.
