Pep and Fergie both had lots of average enough players in their squads over the years who they made into serial winners through great management.
People think because City have spent a lot that their squads over the years have been full of world class talent. I disagree slightly on this.
Same with Ferguson who had the likes of John O'Shea, Wes Brown and Phil Neville winning multiple trophies

Totally agree. The United team that won the title in Ferguson's last season was very average, as showed when Moyes took over.

I feel with him he was massively overrated at the time leading to a revisionist view where he's now probably slightly under-appreciated. He was a very good player in his prime

I was thinking about Kinkladze for this thread when I first saw it but thought I’d get too much stick…

I think there’s a reason that he played for relegated City and relegated Derby and never got a sniff at any decent side.

It pissed me off royally when three quarters of Maine Road were begging him to stay on the last game of one season, all waving Kinkladze flags.
