There was a darker side apparently

A young couple bought it from the people who bought it after he died. There was a lovely story about them taking up the carpet in one room to find s load of paint splashed on the floor.

Is there still a statue of him sitting on a bench at the top of Mottram moor?
Not only that: they also found a Reubens under his bed.

Sure I heard or read Sheikh Mansour bought Pellegrini a Lowry painting as a parting gift .

Brilliant to learn that Lowry was a blue, haha... I remember as kid being shown a picture of the painting after a trip to the fair and feeling quite shocked and proud that anything In Tameside was worthy of Art - growing up in Ashton in the 70s, the only thing the area seemed famous for was its connection with the Moors Murderers. Weirdly, Lowry's house in Mottram lies about 400 yards from where Harold Shipman lived and about half a mile away from the where the now-demolished home of the Moors Murderers once stood on Hattersley.
