Ian Bishop with his arms out stretched after scoring in the 5-1 in front of the rags in the North Stand always comes to mind.
Saturday Heroes but it was a segment within the Nationwide programme. It was on, usually, once a week (but some weeks I think they had 2). John Stapleton did some of the work on it.Driving me mad now .what was the programme called ? Remember it being on bbc1_nationwide .
Was it Saturdays hero's or when Saturday comes ?
Please blue moon put me out of my misery
Is it on you tube anywhere ?
That was the Granada show - it was a one off in the 1980-81 season. Originally broadcast in Jan/Feb and then reshown the night before the FAC final. Narrated by Bob Greaves. The Nationwide show predated City! by 3 years. I know I criticise Swales a lot, but in terms of media coverage back then he often knew how to get City seen.It was called City! The Nationwide book was as shown by that picture, but the series on TV was called City!
