Driving me mad now .what was the programme called ? Remember it being on bbc1_nationwide .
Was it Saturdays hero's or when Saturday comes ?
Please blue moon put me out of my misery
Is it on you tube anywhere ?
Saturday Heroes but it was a segment within the Nationwide programme. It was on, usually, once a week (but some weeks I think they had 2). John Stapleton did some of the work on it.

It was 1977 and followed Colin Bell's attempted recovery (this is what most people remember it for). Some of it does exist in the BBC archives, but I've never managed to persuade anyone to let us see it/show it.

It was called City! The Nationwide book was as shown by that picture, but the series on TV was called City!
That was the Granada show - it was a one off in the 1980-81 season. Originally broadcast in Jan/Feb and then reshown the night before the FAC final. Narrated by Bob Greaves. The Nationwide show predated City! by 3 years. I know I criticise Swales a lot, but in terms of media coverage back then he often knew how to get City seen.

Thanks. Muddled in the mists of time!

Hey guys, sorry it has taken so long to get this up. I have been out of the country for a while, but, I have got my dad to draw his favourite of the suggestions so here it is. Let me know what you think.
