US & Israel attack Iran

How many troops would be needed to secure a coastline anywhere from 600-1500 miles? How far inland would you need to roll back to prevent attacks on shipping? How long would troops need to be stationed? Turns out bone spurs can’t get you out of all wars.
Drones will slaughter them

They can both be cunts. The American's choices have led the Iranians to threaten to kill civilians.
And Iran hasn't killed people overseas over the last 45 years?
Give over.
PS Trump is the ultimate Arse.
But there is no way anyone in their right mind would support Iran.

I was alarmed to hear this but having thought about it, I think this one is now the right time to allow our bases. Iran already has us implicated and the closing of the strait is harmful to our interests.
I wonder if the UK has asked Iran what it would take to let ships through.

First condition is probably no bombing or supporting American bombing of their country so maybe thats too hard for us.

They won't as they think they know better, hubris will be the death of them.
Well that's true.
The US does have the ultimate anti drone weapon though
A microwave defence shield and a microwave burst missile.
The defence shield sweeps the sky and anything fairly close falls from the sky.
the missile version has longer range and you launch it, it fly it in near a collection of drones Where it emits a microwave burst and the drones fall out of the sky. The missile then returns to source and is caught in a bit net, recharged and reused. (It turns off just prior to the microwave burst then restarts.

And noone in their right mind should support the war mongering Americans who travel thousands of miles to places that are none of their business and kill millions of people.

Iran doesn't do that.

Will see how it copes in a proper battlefield where drones operate 24/7 and don't stop for breaks. Sounds good in theory though.

Cooper has been in discussions with the Iranian FM apparently. I imagine us and the other five countries who signed the letter of intent about reopening the Strait have been in a lot of discussions with Iranian officials.

Yeah. It doesn’t sit right with me. I get all the arguments about the Strait and the reality of the economic harm it does to the UK, but it was the US that triggered this shit and facilitating them in this war sticks in the throat.

I think that is my position. But is that realistic? I don’t know

Iran doesn't do that.

Iran has openly supplied Russia with drones and tech in its war with Ukraine which has resulted in deaths of civilians in Europe. I disagree with the US attack on Iran but let’s not pretend the Iranian regime has a spotless record.

Probably not. The closure of the Strait is an act of economic harm to the UK so in one sense we have to do something. But escalating the war? And yes I know the Americans can and will do that anyway irrespective of what we or any other country says, meaning our options aren’t great. Same applies to everyone else caught in the middle of this fucking mess.

I wasn't implying it does. But the US has existed for 250 years and has been at war for all but 30 years. Let that sink in. And somehow they have convinced a lot of gullible fools that they are a force for good.

Would be the sensible thing to do. Dont think todays announcement will help much.
