A minor quibble though... I very much think that Trump actually - desperately - viscerally - wants become the President in 2024. Trump's upbringing compels him to this end.
As a hypothetical - let's say that there were no charges whatsoever - whether civil or criminal - pending against Trump. In this hypothetical situation - do you think he'd still run for office? My own answer to this question is, "Of course he'd run!"
Trump's upbringing is well-documented; it resulted in a deranged personality, one aspect of which is that losing is an intolerable sign of weakness. Trump must always win - must always be "the best." In his warped-reality mindset, he cannot accept that he lost the 2020 election.
I could go on and on about this personality defect in Trump - e.g., his insistence that he drew the largest ever crowd for his inaugural address, his fake Time magazine cover, his repeated claim that he's the best President ever (save for perhaps good ole Abe Lincoln), his statements about how the Emmy Awards were rigged against him, etc.
Trump hates losers and by extension, losing. It's anathema that he might lose - ever. Which leads me to conclude that he's compelled to run for President in 2024 with the full intention of winning (other factors notwithstanding), as a sort of personal redemption. And if he wins, he's going to attempt to punish everyone associated with the running of the 2020 election, save those few corrupt individuals who were trying to overturn election results in his favor.
