US Politics Thread

I think that you will all agree that we are living in most interesting times. (Hear, hear.) I never remember myself a time in which our history was so full, in which day by day brought us new objects of interest, and, let me say also, new objects for anxiety. (Hear, hear.) [emphasis added]

Telling that Biden's launch video showed a lot of Harris in it. Almost baiting the dumbest trump fans into biting.
Biden is being smart with that and also by announcing who is making up his team, but he's doing it primarily for mobilising the voters i think.

He has a Black Woman as VP who could become President if something happens to him, due to his age, and his new campaign manager is a Latino Woman.
This will be noticed by those populations and by Women in general, as their numbers hold a lot of sway in who gets elected.

But you're right, if the right wing element try to use it against him, it will alienate those groups further which would definitely cost the Republicans the Presidency, regardless of who they put forward.

Biden beat Trump in 2020 by winning the Electoral College 306 to 232. He won the swing states of Pennsylvania and Georgia, and he bested Trump by more than 7 million votes nationally, capturing 51.3% of the popular vote to the Republican's 46.8%.

The Associated Press typically does not name people who say they have been sexually assaulted unless they come forward publicly, as Carroll, Leeds and Stoynoff have done.

I can’t help but fear the Democrats are sleepwalking into a disaster here.

Biden was massively helped in 2020 by Trump’s calamitous handling of the pandemic and the fact there wasn’t the normal pressure of doing loads of rallies and televised debates.

Biden is an awful public speaker and he’s not getting any better.

What happened to Kamala Harris? I thought during the last campaign she was being pitched as almost a ‘co-President’ and I thought she’d be the nominee in 2024. But since inauguration day I don’t think I’ve seen anything from her at all.

Biden’s approval ratings are awful.

I can see Trump winning again. The American electorate is that stupid.

Hope I am wrong.

Apparently there will be no debates during the Democrat primary. The DNC has no plans to sponsor any debates. I think this will be seen for what it is, and it won't work.

He was prone to a lot of gaffes but Bush was a much more captivating speaker.

Biden just drones on and on and then seems to forget what day it is.

I know he’s got a stutter and worked very hard to get over it, but that aside, his forgetfulness and lack of awareness are worrying and not going to get any better. He’s going to get ripped to shreds in the debates and in the media analysing his rally speeches.

Him avoiding such public engagements as much as possible and leaving Trump to hang himself in 2020 was actually a really smart move.
