US Politics Thread

I’m well aware of the advantage an incumbent has. But these days politics has been flipped on its head and nothing can be taken for granted.

Biden is a rubbish candidate, but we’ll see. It’s such a low bar in American politics.
Biden has done an excellent job as POTUS. Is he old? Yes. Does he have trouble speaking due to a stutter he's had since childhood? Yes. But that doesn't discount what he's done in office. He rolled out the vaccine twice as fast as what he promised, he passed an infrastructure bill, we have a record low unemployment, inflation is coming down and he actually got a small piece of gun legislation through congress. The last guy gave a tax break to billionaires, oversaw a pandemic that his lies about caused hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths and became the first POTUS since the Great Depression to actually have a negative net gain on jobs.

I swear, people don't even understand what politics is anymore. It's not entertainment, it's not supposed to be exciting. The absolute best you can hope for is to never even hear from or about a politician because that means they're doing their job. Twitter wars, political stunts and soundbites on propaganda tv may get people's attention but they don't offer anything in the way of making things better for the masses.

Apparently there will be no debates during the Democrat primary. The DNC has no plans to sponsor any debates. I think this will be seen for what it is, and it won't work.

That article says that they’re not doing debates because that’s the precedent that’s been set for incumbent presidents.

I don’t think anybody needs to read more into it than that.

Biden is being smart with that and also by announcing who is making up his team, but he's doing it primarily for mobilising the voters i think.

He has a Black Woman as VP who could become President if something happens to him, due to his age, and his new campaign manager is a Latino Woman.
This will be noticed by those populations and by Women in general, as their numbers hold a lot of sway in who gets elected.

But you're right, if the right wing element try to use it against him, it will alienate those groups further which would definitely cost the Republicans the Presidency, regardless of who they put forward.
Kamala is not that well-liked in the black community and is seen by many as a token.

Biden’s own rep with black voters is stronger than hers, by virtue of being Obama’s VP for 8 yrs and him getting the nod!

It seems as if Trump doesn't want any primary debates though. I still don't see how Trump thinks he can beat Biden. I just don't see anyone that voted for Biden last time suddenly deciding to vote for Trump.

I agree, but I can see a lot of people who voted for Biden last time not voting for anyone.

What data do you base this opinion on?

Adding onto the post by @Gaudion M above, Biden is favo(u)red by 4000 BASIS POINTS over Trump among potential voters who think neither Biden nor Trump have done a good job as President. 40%!

I suspect you are greatly underestimating the number of people who would vote for a fucking ham sandwich to keep Trump out of the White House.
