In the context of the hearing's, it is funny to watch. In reality it's a clear demonstration that the legislative process is essentially broken which in turn means their precious Constitution that every single one of them swore an oath to uphold and protect might as well go in the bin.

I'd accept that it's a bad sign, and there is clear previous evidence that anyone not doing Orange's orders gets fired.

There is a chance that Bondi will stand up to him. Can't predict the future, although I doubt she will - she might find a way around to get to the desired outcome.

The hearings are so formed by the partisan positions that they're all a bit pointless apart from allowing grandstanding and sucking up to Orange. That's the part that makes the rest of the process look flimsy.

Watched Civil War, with Kirsten Dundst, the other night.
Not what I was expecting at all and a really interesting watch.
Dark and very close to the bone without spelling out anyone or any one event that drove this scenario.
However, I kind of hope there is nothing prophetical about its realistic portrayal of how things might go.

I couldn’t get a certain individual out of my head as I watched.

Blinken is brokering nothing the deal has been on the table for months. It just needed someone to force Netanyahu over the line. No doubt Trumps motives are all about self-aggrandisement but Biden/Blinken could have done this a year ago. They chose not to. Add enhancing Trump's dubious 'anti~war' credentials to their legacy.

Timing is fortunate, though, given the Israelis don’t have much left to destroy and any leverage Hamas might have gained from holding hostages has pretty much disappeared…and Iran is struggling with geopolitical collapse in the region.

Key ingredient in ceasefire deal was Trump’s pressure on Netanyahu

The key ingredient in the ceasefire deal brokered between Israel and Hamas was the pressure the administration of incoming US President Donald Trump exerted on Israel, Omar Rahman, a fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, told Al Jazeera.

“Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, went to the region and told Netanyahu: ‘You need to get this deal done’,” Rahman said.

However, the Trump administration will need to put sustained attention on the phases of the deal if they are to be implemented.

“The Israelis are going to try to drag their feet or get out of this deal. This is going to be Netanyahu’s ultimate aim,” the analyst said.

Rahman also criticised Biden for what he said was a “shameless attempt to try and claim credit for a deal that has been sitting there for the past nine months”.

“These are American officials that have played a huge part in what the Israelis have done, and they’ll have to live with that legacy,” he said.

You think he's going to give two shits about the environmental impacts? I doubt they have anywhere near as stringent environmental laws as the US.

Also, look at Trump's pick for US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee (yes, the father of Trump's wonky-eyed press secretary during his first term). He's very well connected to Kushner Jr. I guarantee these slimy fuckers will be lining their pockets heavily over the next 4 years.
