It seems impossible for some of our US friends on here to grasp that it is perfectly reasonable to think trump is a deranged loon who should be in prison while also acknowledging that Biden is unfit for anything other than retirement. Biden seems to me to be the best and most statesmanlike option just because he has managed to rise above the twitter style witch hunt that the rest of the democrats have become sucked into. How is he both “unfit for anything other than retirement” and simultaneously “the best option” — in the next sentence? You’re right — it is impossible for your U.S. friends to grasp it.

Of course I’m worried about him. But he tripped over a fucking beanbag. And yet four posters who never show up here with any regularity suddenly come out of the woodwork to discuss Biden’s frailties. As such, being suspicious of their motives for the sudden appearance shouldn’t be a shock.

I also recognize those who have had conservative or politic-cynical views in the past are all still fighting their 2015 rearguard action when they didn’t see Trump for what he was. It might help their case were they on the front lines expressing their horror and disbelief that the former POTUS is gonna be charged with espionage rather than sashaying in only when the current POTUS falls down.

I’ve no skin in the game, couldn’t really give a fuck about who you anoint as your next President but I’m allowed to comment on what certain posters come out with the second he does go arse over tit.

As I said, more arsed about the right wing than the poor bloke himself it would seem?

The anti-Biden bullshit spewed by the Right is unfortunately effective. What transpires is this: those who are incapable of critical thinking view Fox News and the like alongside actual news and attempt to come to some sort of middle ground.

"They're all the same" - is an indication of this.

So too is "Biden is senile and frail".

I mean, WHAT THE LITERAL FUCK.

I think that most of the US news outlets lean Left - which so far means that they tend to cover stories favorable to a liberal narrative. But these outlets don't engage in conscious, outright deception.

Case in point - the coverage of Dianne Feinstein. Feinstein is beloved by the Left - but she's almost certainly suffering from dementia. And the Left-leaning news outlets report this.

Whereas all this "Biden is too frail and senile" bullshit is all from the Right. And those who can't reason lap it up.

They ARE capable of critical thinking -- and that's the point. They know they fucked up. They misread Trump, the threat he is/was, the insanity, the amorality -- and they look and feel incredibly stupid. They're humilated. But they can't/won't admit it, so they show up only when they have a needle for the current administration, as if they can claw back some of their dignity by criticiz(s)ing (or expressing false concern). Then they pull out the "both sides" argument -- the ones all political-cynics use -- to cover up their own mistaken tea leave readings (and, as they secretly know, moral failings).

Yes, that's right. The "both sides" argument is a moral failing. But oooooooohhhhhhh don't say that to them. How dare I, right? How can I judge? I can, will and already have.

And Trump isn't just a threat to America, he's a huge fucking threat to Europe. He's Putin's biggest buddy. If elected, he'll cut off all US aid to Ukraine and without our support Russia may eventually take over large parts of Ukraine. Emboldened by this victory, Russia will next try something even more aggressive. Likely Trump will have pulled the USA out of NATO.

So yeah - America's screwed under Biden or Biden is incompetent to govern or whatever. With any luck you (meaning blueinsa) won't have to learn the hard way just how fucking wrong this line of thought is.
