When I and many others said in the lead up to 2016 said that electing Trump would be a 'fucking disater' people scoffed.

If he gets in again then you can pretty much kiss the US goodbye as a functioning democracy, and that's not me being hyperbolic.

The political norms/checks & balanced many people claimed would keep him in line last time have pretty much gone (for all the good they did), and he'll be coming back to power with so many grudges and a wanton lust for revenge.

Buckle up.

The likes of Bannon, Stone, Flynn and others weren't exactly subtle with their planning for the Jan 6 'event'.

If Trump and cronies are going back for a second bite at the insurrection cherry, then it's going to have to come from within Congress and the Senate initially.

If so, then I fear you're correct.

It's a pathway to never being found guilty of any crime. Simply indoctrinate a third of the population, so they don't question anything you do. Sadly, actually easier to do than one might think.

Juries are overrated, generally ignorant of law and easily compromised. No reason that judges can't return verdicts as long as they've proper oversight. We've been doing it that way for years in Ireland with the SCC, far more effective at dealing with dissidents and organised crime, both of which Trump would fall under.
