US Politics Thread

The US is such a huge place and so different…..however it’s so alike. I’m a General Contractor and have never seen business so busy. I still hear the same shit every day from the Cult members, ‘we need Trump back to save us from socialism’
I know markets very around the country but it’s almost panic build around here even though prices are the highest they’ve ever been

To be fair Biden is in his 80s and he's getting brain rot as well. The US needs revitalisation and young blood to take it forwards. It has had the exact same arguments and priorities for the last 50 years, probably because the same politicians from even back then are still hanging around like a bad smell.

The US election will come to a choice between a 77 year old chancer and an 81 year old who can't remember his name. And there are people who are actually energised by this election?

US politics couldn't be more depressing except I'm from the UK where it's just as bad or maybe worse....
You aren’t being fair. The arguments aren’t the exact same as before. That isn’t the choice. I’m energiz(s)ed. It isn’t worse in the UK.

On the plus side, I agree with your second sentence.

But 1-5 is an appalling record.

This is an insane claim even by Trump's standards.

Seriously? They're arguing that the presidential oath doesn't apply because the President is not an "officer"?
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Semantically its true. the presidential vow doesn't say "support the constitution". it says stuff like "Uphold the constitution" etc but not support.

But its one hell of a technicality they are trying to envoke.

Thats exactly what they are trying to say. it doesn't say support so he's "not oblidged to support" Madness.

Uphold/adhere to/support - All amount to the same thing.

It's like trying to argue that someone 'violently ending a life on purpose' isn't 'technically' murder because it doesn't specifically use the word 'murder'.
