US Politics Thread

For those on here who live in America, I wonder is Biden getting any credit for the booming stock market?

My savings are in an S&P 500 tracker and while it’s a long term investment so I’m not really bothered about day to day fluctuations, I’ve made a ton of money over the last year or so.

The market is probably due a correction but Trump seemed to take all the credit for bull markets during his tenure, I wonder if Biden is given the same credit by the electorate?

Taylor is a megastar all over the world , she has been credited with boosting countries economies just by playing there, hopefully she will come out for biden and may even swing the electorite in his direction although how you get through to stupid i dont know

Your logic doesn't make that much sense to me. If he's convicted of a felony you think his base won't show up? Or you think THAT'S what will suddenly make undecided/laconic/disinterested people vote for Biden? Why? For all the evidence we have and have had over the nearly 40 years this guy has been a public figure, people have already made up their minds for the most part.

In my small circle, NO ONE talks about politics any more. I think we've all had enough. There's no upside to it, and no one is going to convince anyone else. I suspect polls are very much skewed toward people who would answer such things, and that is decidedly not me nor anyone I know. No one has the interest or the time, and fewer and fewer have land lines, and screen junk calls on their cells, and junk emails. Nutters seem to have that time, and interest in being heard (needing attention) too.

My remarks about the profound effect a felony conviction might have on support for Trump is based on reporting from Brian Tyler Cohen, MSNBC and other non-MAGA news outlets. If I'm correctly recalling - in exit polls, Republican caucus voters were asked whether or not they'd vote for Trump if he were convicted of a felony, and surprisingly many of them said that they would not. If the polls are true, there's a rather large erosion of support for Trump among Republicans if he's convicted of a felony. I agree though that the roughly 30% or so of die-hard MAGA Republicans aren't going to change their mind over this.

That said, the only criminal trial that looks like it might conclude prior to the election is the hush money case in New York.

The hush money case is the least consequential and I doubt if the polling I cited above captured the possibility that Trump's felony conviction was only in the hush money case.

Polls do seem to be narrowing. However, the most recent polls I could find seem to indicate that Trump is still ahead although a few show Biden leading by the narrowest of margins.

It's heartening to see that the electorate is beginning to shift towards Biden.

However, bettors still seem unmoved - heavily favoring Trump.

All joking apart what is this fascination with her, i saw her at the Ethiad a few years ago and she was ok, even my 11 year old thinks all her songs sound familiar, I don’t get it?
I agree.

Her PR and marketing team are phenomenal. Along with herself promoting the biggest female pop star in the world.

Millions of Swifties who act like her army. I recall them all destroying kanye a few years ago when he dared to take her on.

As a bettor myself, long may it continue as I’ve had some great odds.
