Said beforehand that I couldn't foresee another debate after this and would be surprised if there were. Harris’ team can publicly call for one, of course, but they will know that Trump’s side will be reluctant for him to repeat the ordeal. His people will advise against because deep down they know that he simply doesn’t have the patience to practice and won’t stick to a script, nor does he have the mental agility to process the data needed to coherently attack Harris’ record. Left to his own devices, he’s a greater danger to himself, so with the polls that tight, the risks for him outweigh the rewards.
Should there be no other debate, and Harris does indeed go on to win from here, then we may look back and conclude that the first debate did for Biden and the second debate did for Trump. Might have to reappraise the idea that televised debates are declining in importance.
