If we had a FPTP system It’s quite possible that Gerry Hutch could have got a seat in Dublin Central.
Thankfully our PR system was his downfall.
He didn’t get the distributed vote transfers and lost out.

He’ll probably end up on trial in Spain now.

We have enough problems in our own governmental system at the moment with the two main Right leaning parties basically forming a coalition of convenience to form a cartel as such, but even at that, thankfully our PR system throws up enough diversity to reflect the electorate and they may have to deal with and offer concessions to up to three other minority parties or a number of independents.

Between that and the separation of the judiciary and government and the fact we ditched the monarchy a century ago, looking on at other systems on display, I’ll quite happily take what we have.

Trump has pardoned scoundrels and criminals. Hell, Clinton pardoned terrorists.

Had the roles been reversed Trump would have said nothing or he would have said he would be open to pardoning his son.

I am shocked sleepy creepy didn’t say he forgot what he said previously as he was confused between courses of Ensure and jello while watching his reruns of Matlock!!
