Not at all. But if you look at the way the mob on here jump on trump boy, it's the same mentality as the Jan 6 clowns who also knew they were 'right'.
Take him on, challenge his views etc, but once the thread becomes a space for just one view then it's just a circle-jerk and a contest to see who can dump on the cracker first.

You're wasted on BM. You should get a job at the BBC finding fruit loops to put on panels to provide an opposing view to experts on their discussion programmes. Got to maintain balance at all costs however idiotic the opposing view is.

You make a good point, but extremism is not caused by being exposed to extreme views, but by being exposed to only one view. If an opposing view is idiotic then we don't need to be scared of it and suppress it.

No one's suggesting that opposing views are suppressed, even idiotic ones. We just don't need to actively seek out those clearly idiotic views and effectively promote them by giving them a platform they don't deserve. They can spout their shite as much as they like (within the law) on Social Media and GB News, and get ridiculed for those views accordingly.

Not a pop at you personally btw, just general comment on the tone of a couple of politics threads that start out as actual debate and then evolve into something quite different. Maybe not a concern - this is a football forum and not the house of commons after all, but the football- isation of the debate is weird.

Sometimes, when people's views are so clearly ridiculous or offensive, it gives them credibility and legitimacy when they are treated in the same way as an opposing political view. That's why flat earthers, 9/11 truthers, Trumpers and Covid deniers deserve to be ridiculed rather than reasoned with. A Venn diagram of the those 4 categories would likely be concentric circles.
