He confesses more and more everytime then tries saying the opposite once he realises he's fucked himself.

You’re assuming his lawyers are giving him some kind of permission.

I’m pretty sure he just does whatever he wants and fires anybody who tries to stop him.

His lawyers have zero control. The idea that he keeps quiet and let's the lawyers call the shots is not going to wash. He's fallen out with every lawyer he's ever worked with so maybe now they just accept that he is going to do what he does and they just have to manage around it.
