I have heard a lot of abuse directed at 48 since he gave that speech. Not one saying he loed though :)
Don’t get ahead of yourself. Old JD, or whatever he’s calling himself this week, has a lot of strange and damaging baggage that was never going to affect him as VP, but which will be front and center in 4 years.

Not to mention, we will have to see the destruction wrought on the country that he’ll get tagged with, too.

How do you feel about all the layoffs? Maybe they’ll help the unemployment numbers to pop in the hope Powell will reduce interest rates, eh?

Nah, they wouldn’t be THAT cynical and cold and calculated would they? Oh wait, this is Trump, Musk and Miller we are talking about!!

JD Vance was just stating the reality that there was no way US can continue to finance the European countries defense and ideologies on the back of US citizens.
LOL. It’s as if somehow you just heard what you wanted to hear and what you already thought instead of actually listening. What a fucking shock.

Europe can learn a thing or 2 about Democracy . We all can.
True, but not from that “never trumper” Vance. You yourself could learn that, without the rule of law, there is no democracy.

You will not accept what you know to be true because it came drom someone you disagree with?.

Also, we already know about the rule of law though. :)

I would accept what Vance said, if it made sense, but it did not. For example, it was really a call for complete closure of Europe’s eastern borders which is just not feasible or even desirable. Does he really think Tommy Robinson and his ilk should be leaders in UK? Does he really think measures against violence around abortion clinics are an attack on free speech? Does he really think think disobeying a court order makes you some kind of hero and the punishment make you a martyr? Does he really think it was acceptable to ignore Ukraine in a European security conference?
I am willing to listen to contrary views that contain an arguable point of view
( I have even given you the odd ‘like’!) but his speech was ignorant nonsense.

My quote function doesn't work: so I'm putting in quotes what im responding to.

1. "Does he really think measures against violence around abortion clinics are an attack on free speech?"

When those measures include jailing people silently praying? Absolutely!!!

"Does he really think think disobeying a court order makes you some kind of hero and the punishment make you a martyr? "

When did he say that? Come on, you are better than this

If be happy to go through a point by point analysis of the speech. Yes, you may not like it. But it is not "ignorant nonsense."

More so than anything, it may be an annoying speech coming from an outsider.

It is ignorant because it ignores (that word was well chosen) both the difference between US and European culture and the fact that Russia can March into Europe which it cannot do in US. These issues make a big difference and to ignore them makes the speech nonsense.
People are not banned from silently praying, just from any form of words or demonstration in a short distance from the clinics. The prayer can do what he wants a yard further on. How many people have been killed or injured in the US when approaching such clinics? At least one medic I remember.
You seem to have missed his praise for the guy who disobeyed the law. Was that in a different speech? Can’t be bothered to check.
If he had taken an approach that took into account the factors I mentioned and put forward ways to mitigate the differences yet advocated his policies that would have been far better. Why did he not do this?
