Is it time for two new parties now in the USA, basically the republicans = MAGA, now there seems to be a lot of republicans who don’t agree with Trump but are scared of hime so why don’t they and the democrats form a different party so it would be them against MAGA? Those republicans could then stand up to this tyranny under that umbrella.
Those republicans don’t want to lose their jobs (ie be deselected) which Trump has threatened and that would be the outcome of founding a new party too.

Yep. They are his slaves, plain and simple. Automatons. Courtiers. Eunuchs. His cabinet now too; at the least the original members, ill-suited as some were for their roles, had some type of pedigree and a few had independent minds. None of them came back.

All those sucking up and surrounding Trump are in it for themselves, not the people.

Now the thing with rats, is they always abandon ship first.

It's probably too early yet.

So we need to just watch who jumps first, and watch the rest follow...

I asked weeks ago - who are the Republican congress members who will not be standing again and might not care about being the first to say the King is naked?

Good question.

Along the same lines, why are so many centrist republicans who are no longer running for office - such as George Bush - silent?

Party loyalty takes precedence above all else in far too many old school republicans. Fuck them all.

Bit would they lose their jobs, you’d have them and their democrat supporters vs maga voters im sure they’d wipe the floor with them at the moment..

Officially? Only six aren’t running again and three are Democrats. McConnell is retiring. The Republicans in the House are Andy Biggs of AZ and Byron Donalds of FL who are both running for governor, so obviously they aren’t slamming Trump — they need his endorsement.

I think it’s important to note the GOP has purged itself of anyone in its power base who is anti-Trump. It’s the entire party now, top to bottom, pretty much.

+1

And it's now far, far worse. Project 2025 is in full swing. Anyone in any US government agency who is not loyal to Trump is going to be fired. Any admiral, general, or other high ranking armed forces member who is not loyal to Trump is going to be fired.

Democracy in America may well die for decades.

Theyre a bunch of cowards and toadies who deserve to be remembered for the gutless arselickers they are.

Whoever you believe these Republicans are (as they barely exist), they believe less in the Democrats positions than they do Trump's.

There is a silliness that permeates this place. Almost sll conservatives are 80% on the same side as Donald Trump. Even the ones who hate his guts, agree with him 80% of the time.

They agree with Democrats 10% of the time. But somehow the big brains here thinks the smart play would be for those people to join the people they don't agree with most of the time, to oppose the side they agree with most of the time.

Only on a blue moon political thread does this make sense.

This is the sad reality of US politics right now, and I don't see it changing any time soon.

It would take someone like Rubio to take a stand, but I think there's more chance of me winning the lottery.

Once again, a stream of unproveable horseshittery from a liar who still doesn’t seem to understand that it’s Trump himself who is the primary problem. But “the ends justify the means” is his moral code, which is why he will greedily dickslurp Trump and Vance cheerfully (he voted for “an idiot, all of the time”), no matter what.

You don't have to look too hard to know that is a load of bollocks.
